Liberty probably watched its playoff hopes slip away on Saturday when the Flames were upset by Presbyterian. Every time Liberty scored, the Blue Hose had an answer, as the game went into the final quarter tied at 28.

Well, we sure as heck don't deserve such a ranking- unless 5-6 other top 25 teams lost to teams in the bottom 200.
No knock on Presby; I'm sure their fans would say the same.

Maybe last year Liberty could have survived the Presby loss. The last two at-large spots were given to a 7-4 team (UNH) and an undeserving OVC team (Eastern Illinois).

The Flames don't have that luxury this season. The CAA is very deep, and the No. 2 team in the North will have a better argument for inclusion than Liberty simply because it played a better schedule. And I don't think the CAA North's No. 2 has much of a shot of making it. The CAA will get at least three at-larges, Cal Poly will get one, the SoCon will get at least two (Furman, Wofford, Elon) and the MVC runner-up will be in. Montana will be in as well. That's eight.

Liberty's going to be in the same spot as last season in that case. 10-2, arguing that going undefeated in the Big South should be grounds for inclusion. But with only one signature win (Elon) and an awful loss (Presbyterian) on the resume, it's not going to be enough.

If we win out and beat Elon, with a few loses from other teams, we may be able to squeeze in with a 10-2 record. Its not likely, but its still possible...
