Division 2 team? I wonder if an FBS team will be looking for a late game. Maybe the quick fix would be to check the rest of Iona's schedule and try to pick up another team that would be short a game if they dropped football.

The tough part is going to be finding someone that late with that week off. If we pick up a game from someone else on Iona's schedule, we've gotta find someone that originally had that week off. Not sure how easy that's going to be.

Anything but a DII game is fine with me.

I think Rocco would probably play a D2 rather than another FBS. Of course someone else like Iona would be ideal.

Do we HAVE to have 12 games next year? What's wrong with 11 and two off weeks?

We're not allowed 12 games next year. We only have 11 scheduled including Iona.

It has something to do with Thanksgiving being late, I think?

I just know that every few years, you are allowed 12 games. Every other year 11 is the max.

Regardless, we could always fill in our current open date with a new game, and leave the old Iona date (which is in between a couple of pretty important games, just like the open date, so it's really 6 one way, half dozen the other) open.

So anyone with an opening the first 2 weekends in October is fair game. That includes anyone who had planned on playing Iona on the 10th of October, which could be North Dakota or Columbia (Both would be good games for us. I can't find dates on when they were supposed to play these teams, I just know they are scheduled opponents.) I know they play ODU next year, but that wouldn't fit into our Schedule... ODU has games planned for the 3rd and 10th (plus they wouldn't count as a D-I win, anyways, so we don't exactly want that.)

I wouldn't be opposed to taking a trip to a lower FBS school, tho. I think at this point, we need to prove to people we aren't afraid to go thru a tough schedule, and if we come out of it with a few upsets, even better. The main beef against us is that we don't play tough teams...

A schedule that includes...

Lafayette
JMU
Coastal
WVU
and another low level FBS

would be pretty sweet if you ask me. I don't think anyone could criticize us for that, and I really think we can hang with a schedule like that. Wins in 2 or 3 of those games and we will gain a lot of respect.

I tried, but couldn't find Iona's schedule for next year. Whoever they play on our bye week would be ideal, but I've got no clue who that is.

Lower-level FBS -- someone like Marshall? That might be a decent game, but I do doubt Coach Rocco would want to have two FBS teams in one year, especially the first year we've taken on a schedule that's this tough. He's probably going to want to see how well the team steps up after losing a very talented group of seniors.

AND (off topic, just a bit) I'd love to see us have a continuing series with Lafayette.
