Look lets first get one things straight, i got nothing against the guy. I just was posting an different opinion than " someone i hold in the highest regard" because from the things ive seen and heard i don't think the majority of students i went to school with felt the same way. Were all can have an opinion. However, im not going to run away and i will answer your questions.

You defined inappropriate and yes those were amoung some of the words i heard from him. There is no need to give every one, which is why i was a bit vague, im not trying to paint him in some terrible light.

I said i think he punched the door because i wasn't sure if he hand or foot hit it first, either way it wasn't really called for, but does it really matter which, i think not.

Ive personally never know one person who thought those two lines by Rob were funny, because he used his " with a show of hands" line a lot after his sermons when everyones eyes were supposed to be shut and heads down while asking very serious questions about your life. Again, you may have a different experience, but i never knew those to be funny. While his heart may have been in the right place, we go to LIBERTY lets not forget, between convo, small groups, hall meetings etc its not like during my time while he was there we were being starved of teaching lets be honest.

I SERIOSULY doubt, would even put money on the fact, that he didn't say any of those words, but whatever. if you say you heard it..i won't call you a liar.

as for the funny lines, i was just going on what they do when they inpersonated him every year at christmas convo..i suppose the people who make christmas convo up just made up those things since you have never heard of them and apparently no one you know has either.

i understand you when you say that you have nothing against him personally, but then i feel like if that is the case you have no reason to come out with petty statements like "he yelled a ref and told people not to leave the service after worship."

Anyways, thanks for your opinion (wrong as i may think it is) and i think everyone gets the point..so i will leave it alone for now ;)

I never really had any interaction with RJ, but I did sit near him at a basketball game once. He is very passionate, if that's what you want to call it. I thought he was going to get all Hulk and smash up the ref. But since I'm 80% angry during basketball games, I can appreciate that type of behavior. I wish more faculty got that into it.

as long as he didn't cuss, which he didn't, or make a sexual reference, which he didn't, i have no problem with him being passionate at a game. i agree with LUconn, i really wish more faculty were more passionate at the games.

i have nothing against RJ. I wasn't a fan of his sermons, but that is just personal preference. there was nothing theologically wrong or anything like that that I know of.

Oh man, I wanted to punch him in Evangelism class one time for what he said. He crossed the line with me big-time. I'm ok with people disagreeing with me (as a Pentecostal) but he just really p issed me off in class that day.

He was technically the teacher but Johnnie Moore did most of the teaching with Rob Jackson teaching a couple classes. The time I'm talking about was a panel discussion about the class. I don't want to start a theological war on here, but he just said something that, to this day, I remember as making me mad.

justagirl wrote: rob laughed when people made fun of his "thank you may be seated" or "with a show of hands.." Not listening to someone speak and walking out in the middle of a service after worship is a whole different story. especially if its 100 people getting up to walk out after worship..i never knew this happened, but i would think that Rob's heart was probably in the right place by wanting students to have some TEACHING at CHURCH and not just come to sing and leave.

its amazing how petty some people are at picking people apart. I feel bad for people in higher positions that get dogged on a message board just for simple things like you mentioned.

ok. rant over.
My favorite line of RJ was when he would say "Amen or Oh me?" He overused that, and we had fun with it.

I remember him criticizing those who would leave after worship, but I could understand why this would bother him. I thought Rob Jackson was a genuine guy. I don't think he was the best fit for a campus pastor though. He was a good communicator, but I think he would have played better in a more traditional church with older adults. With the majority of kids at campus church being between 18-20 years of age (most the older kids didn't attend campus church back in the mid to late 90's), it would have been nicer to have a younger pastor, with more of a contemporary style, being the campus pastor. Both RJ and Dwayne Carson were GREAT guys, but I always viewed them as being kinda "nerdy". Again, I think they did their very best, and were God fearing men, but I don't know if preaching to a crowd that is 90% under the age of 21 was such a great fit for them. I definitely wouldn't call them a "joke".

yeah towards the end, as alot of his duties starting changing when he started to work with LUonline, he also was a team teacher for evangelism.
