I think he was exaggerating by saying they couldn't guard the podium! haha. But he is probably being serious about the lack of defense!

I was going to say the same thing. It is easier to teach D than how to shoot the 3.

Many things were said by Coach McKay at the luncheon (and these are Cider paraphrases, not direct quotes):

1. TB will only practice every other day to rest his often injured legs.
2. Curry will be the greatest player ever to wear an LU uniform.
3. Austin is the most "ready" freshman to play that any he has ever coached.
4. A rotation of two or three point guards will be used, but Curry is his shooting guard.
5. He doesn't have "Ralph Sampson" or even a McLean-like center this year, but he didn't seem concerned about that.
6. Practice will be open to the public at 12:00 p.m. Saturday before the football game.

At the levels this guy has coached he's seen every caliper team....he def understands we have a run and gun offense like you see some of your Memphis and other teams use...and in the BSC you'll be just fine with that....its hard to say without practices but I'm thinking we'll see quite a few games getting near the 100 point mark (when I say near I mean 85 or above)



We're going to be a fun team to watch!

I know he says that Seth is his SG, but I think he will use him some as a point guard when he brings in guys like Ohman and Anderson. IF he is not sold at all on using seth at the point... I think maybe Brolin will see some time at point. Apparently he can handle the ball well and that would be a good matchup with other points considering his height and athleticism.

does he have what it takes mentally to be a PG? I've seen players who can handle the ball but cant fulfill the traditional point role to save their life.

I've only talked to him a few times...I've only watched him play pick up games a few times



but I'm willing to bet that with his pedigree if there was 1 thing he'll have it'll be Basketball IQ, coming from a bloodline like that you may not always be blessed with the same size, talent, etc but more times then not you are blessed with the same knowledge simply from being around it more then others not to mention having 24/7 access to a man who's "been there and done that"

Super, you are describing exactly what I saw in practice today, multiple times, usually with him pulling up to shoot the mid-range jumper.

Sounds very Curry-like. Stephen's transition game last season was nothing short of phenomenal at Davidson. Being a smaller team, hopefully our transition game is used often and efficiently. Nothing pumps up the Vines like a Smitty dunk, but I'm hoping the Curry three has a similar effect

yeah. Well in his recruiting video he said himself he prefers to play the 2 or the 3 but he can even play the 1 or the 4 if needed. Apparently he played some point in high school. I'm not saying he'll see alot of time there but it is an option for having a bigger line up on the floor. Something like this...

PG- Brolin Floyd 6'5"
SG- Seth Curry 6'3" and probably taller once the season starts...
SF- Anthony Smith 6'5" (ish) haha....
PF- Tyler Baker 6'8"
C- Carter McMasters 6'11"

PLus that would be a great three point shooting line up. But which combination of players on our team wouldn't be? haha...

Sanders, at 6'3", will be a tall starting point guard, and Brolin does appear to have very good ball handling skills, but he looks and plays more like a 4 than a PG.
