Before the season started, most people would've pointed to tonight's match as the biggest in the conference, but WU hasn't been as strong as they had been the last 6 seasons.

Since I've only had a chance to see one WU match this year, it is tough for me to pinpoint why WU has slipped so much. They'll play really well in one set, but then they will hit really bad patches in the other sets that puts them in big holes that they can't get out of. WU also recently lost Kellie Sellers to a knee injury. She was emerging as probably the third best attacker on the squad.

Anyway, LU is definitely in much better shape at this point of the season, and after the HPU match, I know the Flames will be focused. I'm hoping WU can put up a good challenge, but to be honest, I'll be surprised if WU ends up winning more than one set.

We've had a few matches where we haven't played up to our potential either. I think WU will be ready to play well since revenge is a great motivator. It should be a good match. I'll be at the match tonight WEF. Hopefully I will get to meet you. I'll be the really vocal LU fan.

Look for us to make some changes to get that spark back...last year we were talking about an animal on the back row....we may just see that animal again!

Wish I could meet you, but I won't be there...I live near Charleston, so I don't get to see them unless they are playing @ CSU, they are on TV, or I happen to be in Rock Hill when they are in town.

Hey Eagle Fan, thanks for the update on your team. Regardless of how either team is playing right now, they get fired up when they meet other. This matchup will bring the best out of both teams. I know Winthrop will play some quality volleyball defending that home winning streak which is pretty impressive.

Should be fun for us fans watching the game !

Looks like both teams limited their errors, but LU did a much better job of getting kills. Congrats on the win.

Thanks...though I remember when WU was unstoppable in the Big South. Good match though, and it is good to see the girls limiting their errors, considering they killed us Tuesday night against High Point.

Looks like they did what Coach P was talking about doing and had Jess at the Libero position....I really really like this move for the future of the Lady Flames....Jess is one of the most athletic girls we have, she'll give us 8-10 kills a night but I really think Bacon can do that as well, but the one thing that very few can compete with Jess at is her ability to dominate the back row....she's an animal back there and its good to see her be able to focus on one thing....this could be a great thing guys...

I have to say it was fun sitting in the arena listening to the Winthrop fans get quieter and quieter. There were a few fans who set up behind our serving line making noises behind our ladies when they were serving, and they even gave up with the noises midway thru the 3rd set. Winthrop did not look like the Winthrop of old. Losing Toepke and Po seems to have really hurt there chemistry. They even started the first set with Sitzmann playing outside. She did not look comfortable out there. They moved her back to middle for the last 2 sets, but it didn't help too much. Kim thought she might be playing hurt, because she just didn't really seem to be in the game mentally. We served well, and their serve receive was sketchy at best. It really kept them from getting into any resemblance of a good offensive rhythm.

Kallie and Ashley were definitely in an offensive rhythm. The way Kallie was mixing up the sets kept Winthrop guessing, and as a result, Ashley was up against a single block most of the time, and she seemed to have incredible vision of the court. She hit the ball harder last night than I have ever seen her. Kim, at one point, said, "Keep feeding the shark." She was absolutely amazing -- 14 kills @ .875 ! :bowdown Overall, we played very well last night. We still had some unforced hitting errors. The times that they made runs on us, it usually was because of bad passing that led to less than optimum sets that led to ineffective attacks. If we can keep up our concentration on passing, we will win out. We just have too many weapons for any team to key on just one or two players on defense.
