Sorry, I thought you meant 3 home, 2 away remaining after Saturday.

Haha, no I meant total ... I'm not too sharp this afternoon. Need more coffee. I was really just illustrating Manson's earlier point. I could see Coastal losing one of those games ... not both, though.

James Madison and Furman both went into Coastal Carolina’s Brooks Stadium for night games as ranked opponents.

Both left with losses.

Thus, a mystique was born. Strange things happen in Conway at night, some said. The Chanticleers, who host No. 20 Liberty in a 7 p.m. game Saturday, won those games by a combined six points in front of standing-room only crowds packed with rowdy students.

Thanks!

I am just disappointed they are not coming on here, too. At least over there, I don't have to be as careful with my words.

Coulson's prediction:
No. 20 Liberty (4-0, 0-0 Big South) at Coastal Carolina (3-2, 0-0 Big South), 7p.m.

Liberty went a long way in gaining some respect for its program last Saturday, with a win over the tradition-rich FCS power Youngstown State. But the Flames switch gears and open defense of their Big South title against Coastal Carolina.

Liberty has plenty of weapons offensively, with quarterback Brock Smith (672 yards passing, five TDs), and running backs Rashad Jennings (436 rushing yards, five TDs) and Zach Terrell (266 rushing yards, three TDs).

In last week's win at Youngstown State, Jennings was able to garner national player of the week plaudits, with 220 yards rushing and three TDs to help the Flames roll up 436 yards of offense in a three-point win.

Liberty is extremely strong against the run, ranking 25th (98 yards per game) nationally. The Flames have yielded a grand total of 313 yards to opponents per game to rank 34th in the FCS. Leading the defensive charge for Liberty has been linebacker Nick Hursky who has 24 tackles, 5.5 tackles-for-loss and a sack.

Coastal Carolina has suffered through a difficult start to its 2008 season, getting trounced by Penn State (66-10) and blowing a 20-3 fourth-quarter advantage in a 23-19 loss to Colgate. However, three consecutive wins over Towson, North Carolina A&T and Monmouth have offered a glimmer of hope for the Chanticleers in 2008.

A balanced rushing attack that is buoyed by Eric O'Neal (260 yards, two TDs) and Arthur Sitton (218 yards) has been key in the resurgence of an offense that lacked an identity early on. Quarterback Zach MacDowall has also been solid so far, throwing for 577 yards, four TDs and two interceptions.

The Chants have been tough defensively all season, ranking 38th nationally (318 yards per game) and 34th in scoring defense (21 points per game). Leading the veteran Chanticleer defense are defensive lineman Phillip Oboh (24 tackles, 5.5 tackles-for-loss and a blocked kick) and D.J. Rice (33 tackles, 3.5 tackles- for-loss and a forced fumble).

But in a battle that could decide the Big South championship, Liberty probably has too many weapons for the Chanticleers.

Wow -- they must have really blown that lead to have actually lost a point.

Game of the Week
#20 Liberty at Coastal Carolina
There are games in bigger conferences this week. There are games featuring higher-ranked opponents this week. There are some big rivalries as well going on this week. But no game combines all these elments in the same game - and have an added element of do-or-die in regards to the FCS playoffs. Simply put, it’s the game I want to see the most this week.

It will be close. Despite McDowell’s injury, look for the Chanticleers to lay themselves on the line in this game. And look for Coastal Carolina - the home team - to give the fans on Brooks Stadium something big to celebrate.

Coastal Carolina 24, Liberty 21
