1. its ridiculous, not rediculous.

2. I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here, but all those frat guys from other colleges "look" conservative too but they go to the games drunk and even drink during the game. They are party goers and are not conservative at all.

So this is why I think that dressing like that represents frat culture, which is obviously not something this University wants to be involved in!
So, when I wear my polo oxford shirt, lacoste hat, sperries and croakies to class you assume that I woke up that morning hung over at a frat house over in Lynchburg college? You cannot make assumptions based upon the fact that people dress in a classy manner. I don't think Lilly Pulitzer, Polo, or Vinyard Vines on someones body promotes drunkeness or a culture that Liberty doesn't promote.

threetees, There is very little chance that these folks would have a legal leg to stand on. I have addressed this before in another supposed case of defamation and slander and there is a difference between somebody geting their poor feelings hurt and full blown defamation and/or slander and Im pretty sure this isnt it.

I don't think that sticking up for his biggest fans and friends makes him in any way an idiot. Plus, there are plenty of athletes on this board who voice their opinion throughout the year.
I think he is referring to the fact that it is an NCAA violation and he could be declared ineligible for that!
I thought it was because of all the Monday morning QB's that would drive you crazy...which is why most of the top athletes at LU could careless about this board

Really, a NCAA violation? :dontgetit I dunno about that

I just hope all those involved in this thread come back at the end of the year to accept your awards for thread of the year!

Read what I wrote in context...

What I said, was the southern (SEC) tradition of going to a football game dressed up is what frats and sororities do. I never said dressing like that makes me think people are in a frat. I said going to a game dressed like that is representing the Southern Frat culture and that is not what we are trying to do at LU. And I don't know if they were truly drinking or not at the tailgate, but regardless the "tradition" of dressing up for a game now represents the frat culture. Is that how you want to be perceived at a game?

My first comment is that I saw the girls in dresses and wondered what was going on, but then later, from the Baptist side, I didn't think they made any significant difference in the "sea of red".

Personally, I don't have a problem with appropriate non-conformity in the LU student body, and in their support for the team. It takes all forms, and I agree with those who commend these kids for their attendance and enthusiastic participation. I went to Lynchburg Baptist College at a time when there was not much tolerence for individuality, and I think we have made great strides in this area.

My problem is with the way they chose to do it. First of all, khakis, polo shirts and sun dresses is not "dressing up, and is not really representative of "southern style". It is representative of only a tiny segment of frat boy/sororiety girl culture on a few campuses. Sort of a snooty "I'm better than you crowd". When I think of Khakis and polos I think of the rich real estate guy from Charleston who flips houses on one of those cable shows. What is more disturbing though is that on the campuses they are "copying" (and let's face it, that's what is happening here) the crowd that takes on this psuedo-southern-style affectation is generally the biggest bunch of boozers on campus, and whether our LU group is copying that or not, that is the association that is made. I commend the enthusiasm of this group, but IMHO it is misguided.

Yeah, I had to go through a lot of crap to interview players when I wrote for Liberty's website. They had to make sure there were no NCAA violations there. If there were the player could be held liable and be declared ineligible.

You would :P

Anyway, for the record, I don't care what color people are wearing, just as long as its not the color of the opposing school.
And it was just a student group trying to start a tradition and promote a game...they didn't say NOT to wear red, just that if you didn't it was ok. At least they weren't like the marching band wearing Coastal teal t-shirts that one season.

So, you're saying we have multiple idiots within our various programs but only one who admits it.

It's not a violation, it's just really dumb considering that coaches, administrators and media personnel all can and do read message boards, as do people with betting interests.

ok, I just looked them all up. It's all very "Yacht club" to me.

But the only think I could find for croakies was this:

That's dressing up? or are croakies something else.

im with fumbles here. this is so stupid. the kids are coming to the games. i could care less what color clothes they are wearing. it was not so long ago that students never came. and the comments of these clothes represent frat/sorority lifestyle is just not right. yes some southern schools do have these groups that dress like that but for the most part it is a southern football culture. and the other comment about this look is about "drinking" my gosh...some people need to get out of that liberty bubble. i can tell you that i have been to games on just about every SEC campus, and not all sun dress clad ladies or tie wearing bright colored shirt wearing guys are drunks. they siimply want to look nice going to a game and do their thing. lilly keep doing what your doing. im just proud your crew is supporting LU athletics as well as all the other groups. now if your drinking on campus..that's a problem because your violating the liberty way. keep coming out to the games and do not worry about this.

i think its funny that you said the LUnatics were "attention whores" b/c they painted their chests with their own name. Yet people can show up looking like a bag of skittles and they aren't "attention whores" at all.

oh and pretty sure LU is the name of our school.

Again... LU IS the name of our school.. and one look at this picture allows me to rest my case on the "attention whore" issue.

Uh, no there aren't. And if they are they are doing it without revealing their identity. We have a slew of former players (as recent as this past season) who post on here from time to time. But Coach Rocco makes it very clear that while you are on his team, posting on any boards is off limits. That's why everybody assumed that jp was an imposter because the rules are very well known.

Hey. I love the sea of red. However, as long as people come out I'm happy.

From looking at this picture...all of the "Southern Style" people are in one clump. I think that's fine. They don't really break up the red sea as long as they stay clumped together like that. I don't care what there theme is. Some people just like to be different. As long as they clump up...with the ones wanting to "be different" sitting together, it doesn't look that bad.

Honestly, I watched the game on tape twice (I couldn't make it in person) and I didn't even notice them.

It would look stupid if there were people dressed up sporatically around the stadium like that separated by red shirts...

As far as drinking...no on should be driking before the game...that's not our tradition.

As far as some Elon comparison...Elon had a great team last year...and the stands were only about 1/3 full at the LU game...I was there...let's not emulate that...

Everone come out!!
