LU Notebook: Jennings up for Walter Payton Award

For the first time in Liberty football history, the Flames have a player on the watch list for the Walter Payton Award, FCS football’s equivalent of the Heisman Trophy.
Tailback Rashad Jennings, who already has been named to The Sports Network’s preseason All-American team, is one of 16 players on the preseason watch list.
“It feels good, but at the same time, you can’t pay any attention to it,” Jennings said. “Because you can’t control that. All you can control is playing hard every play, every game.”
