Braves announcer Skip Caray passed away yesterday. I was in my teens when TBS (then WTCG 17) hit the airwaves with their extremely pathetic Braves...showing them at 735 and then again at 1205 AM. Skip added the humor to those broadcasts, and it was even better in the early 90's when the suddenly got good. I am sure many of you are old enough to remember his signature call when Bream scored against the Pirates...but he was much more than that...he was the connection many of us shared with those Atlanta Braves.

as a braves fan, i really liked skip and will miss what he did and was to atlanta braves baseball.

Skip Caray was so much fun to listen to (I remember him and Pete Van Wieren together for TBS from time to time). Rich Eisen (now with NFL Network) actually did a pretty funny impression of Skip whenever he did a Braves highlight on Sportscenter.


Skip will be missed...God be with the whole Caray clan

I'll never forget that call in 1992 when the pirates played the braves in the NLCS when slow Sid Bream was chugging around the bases and was safe at the plate. I grew up watching and listening to him on TV and radio and he was one of the greatest announcers IMO. Braves broadcasts on TV (peachtree tv) and radio won't be the same without him.

i remember that one as well. i was watching this game and i was going bizerk (sp). the NLCS i was watching at home with my mom and when Sid was called safe, the whole apartment complex around us was going crazy.

Sad to see Skip go. I enjoyed his broadcasts a lot when I was a kid and the Braves were my second favorite team (for a while they were close to a tie for first) in the early to mid 90s. They were always on TBS and I watched every game (even printing out blank box scores and keeping score myself). I remember vividly the Sid Bream game in the NLCS. I was actually at the game in the other clip where Otis Nixon climbed the wall. Good times. Skip Caray may not ever be as revered as his father but he was a good announcer who was easy to like.
