The road in front of Hancock is torn up like that to get repaved. I haven't seen anywhere where they said they were repaving it, but it's done the exact way roads and highways are before they are repaved.

BJWilliams wrote:With the new tennis courts going where they are it got me to thinking (and some of my friends outside of the awesome folks on this board): Where will the softball field go? Also, the band practices over on the old intramural fields by the softball field (put down some concrete posts for the scaffolding too). When are they going to break ground on the new tennis courts and how would it affect those two groups?
As far as I know, softball is staying where it is. As for everything else:

Why would softball move? They're staying put. With improvements made around baseball, I would expect one might see improvements around the softball complex at some point to keep pace with Title IX.

I understand that...I was curious because Ive been doing band for 5 years here and we've had 3 different practice locations in those 5 years (the parking lot in front of what is now the student center, the parking lot over by E24 and then the intramural field next to dorm 28) and if the band is relocated again its the 4th time in 6 years. Even if I had gone and graduated in 4 years like your average college student that still seems like a lot of moving (especially after the time was put in to place the concrete posts for the scaffolding) for one group.

The band moves a whole lot easier than a softball field. They have put a lot of money into that over the last few years. The band has built in transportation....feet. Softball is going nowhere.

Shouldn't you lose eligibility for band after 4 years? haha.

I have to retake a class for my major that is only offered in the spring so Im gonna take that and see if I can do my internship in the spring as well.

I've heard that for the past 3 years. :D
I only have two classes in the fall (one for my major and one upper elective) and then the class in the spring referenced above so I can truly mean that Im graduating this May. Its been a long bumpy road especially the last 3 years or so.

Softball will stay in same general location, though field will be turned 180-degrees, with home plate being positioned closer to road, hitting out toward trees across field from dorm 27(?). Bleachers will be added in a more permanent style (no more temporaries), and a press box will be constructed. Also, a field house of some sort will be built, to be shared by both tennis and softball.

Just my prediction

ps - does Title IX have anything at all to do with facilities??
