Turns out that the seats I had last year have been turned into Flames Club level tickets...available only for those who pony up the $100 membership level. I am not happy about it but will probably fork over the C-note.

Supply meets demand. Classic capitalism at work. If you don't like it, vote Obama.

Or just change seats.

You didn't really get hosed, you just had to meet some stricter requirements. That is a really good problem for our program to have, even though personally it may hurt a little. There is no guarantee that I will get the same seats this year I had for last years season, and I have been a member for donkey's years, but like someone said, that's progress.

Hope it works out for you.

Um, yes it has: http://www.libertyflames.com/index.cfm? ... 71&TeamID=

Quite honestly, it's about time for this. Plus, aren't you an employee of the university? You're not even paying full price for your tickets anyway!! The fact that you weren't already a Flames Club member to at least the $100-level is disturbing enough, and then you have the audacity to complain about it. You follow the Flames, and consider yourself a fan, but what you'll actually do for the program stops at suggestions and whining on a message board and discount, employee-priced season tickets.

Things like this have been needed. As many others said, this is progress. I for one, am thrilled our program is in the right direction, and garnering the attention and interest that such a change demonstrates![/url]

Easy now, JK37. I believe Fumbles was being tongue in cheek.

But I agree that this is truly a sign of how well things are moving forward for the program.

As far as tickets go it is a good move... However I can see where fumble is coming from JK is just mad cause he took it as a shot at his daddy. Also understandable.

"Daddy" is not in-charge of seating licenses, nor the Flames Club. But, nice try. I took it as a shot at progress, really. That's the best word in this thread. :D

So when do we get to the point where we make students pick up actual tickets during the week? Still free, but have to get an actual ticket.

Could be getting CLOSE with football, but I don't see the school going to a lottery system anytime soon...
...although Roccoville or RoccoVegas has a nice ring to it.

I didn't say a lottery. Just you pick your ticket up on Monday night and you are guaranteed good seats. The longer you wait, the worse your seats are.

Fumble, I do miss the good old days when the students AND the faculty got free trickets for ALL sporting events. 8)

good old days: small, stagnant

great new days: growth, interest, and as many have said, progress!

I think the student ticket scenario of which SJ speaks would be a good thing, as long as for the first while, any student could still show up and get in for free (just get crappy seats). If you ONLY got in with a ticket, attendance would drop. Too many students don't care enough to get tickets in advance, and would rather just decide to go when, on game day, they realize everyone else is going.

It would also help generate buzz among students hwo actually care about athletics, whether a little or a lot. Having it start on a Monday would only enhance the passion throughout the week leading up to a home game.

I'm fine with those who just wanna show up and get in getting in for free on game day. However, I think that for those students who want to tailgate and appreciate the entire game day atmosphere, something should be done so that they don't have to quit tailgating 90-120 minutes before the game starts to get a seat.

Not in the next 30 years. With an open maximum (we'll pack in anyone anywhere) we'll never turn anybody away. Even assigning seats wouldn't really work since we just pack them in on the bleachers anyway. The "seats" are just to undefined to give out tickets to students.

Then it's going to get worse and worse. There's no possible way to tailgate and still get a good seat if you're a student.

I think a system like SJ described could be useful soon, if the reserved seats were the front few rows. They would need to be careful not to restrict too many seats like the did for the SFC, so they would have to start with a small section and expand as needed. The problem is we like to pack as many people by the rail as possible, and it would be hard to make a guess at how many tickets to give out. We are 2 rows thick in front of the front bleachers, and depending on the size of the people that can be a lot of people. Its just that when SJ, TTL, and others of similar size get down there they should be required to have 2 tickets (kidding don't kill me).

I think overall it could be a good idea, but I doubt it would be implemented correctly and there would either be way too many seats reserved or not enough

It appears your intel was on the mark.
