I'm a fan of Spain, but I hate matches that end in PKs. Maybe this is finally Spain's year.

It was all for the better. Italy is just aweful to watch, they have talent but their strategy is so boring. I admire the way they play defense, but their midfield lacks offensive creativity right now. It was a shame about the Dutch, though, I was pulling for them to win it all. But it just seemed like they stopped playing in the second half. Russia's got some boots on their squad, something the US has always lacked, among other things.

Germany has disgusted me with their complacency thus far. Athletically, they've been so much better than most of their competition, yet, time and again, they do just barely enough to win. That's just lazy.

That game was almost like the World Cup game between the US and Germany when it was hosted by South Korea and Japan...the US dominated in time of possession and shots on goal but the Germans had the advantage in the category that counted: goals scored.

Well it looks good, they have a solid young nucleus... But EURO doesn't prove how well they will do against the Argentines. Or Brazilians. Or Africans. Or Aussies. Or Americans. The WC is a whole new stage.

That being said, I think the Dutch will be looking good in 2010. Espana, Argentina, and Brazil are of course favorites as well. And who knows what the Italians and French will look like, but I wouldn't count them out, either.

This will be a good World Cup, that's for sure.
