That’s fine if people do like going there, but I just can’t stand all the congestion and it’s always so dirty to me. But it obviously doesn’t bother some people, at least not enough to not go there.

This statement is inherently false, and everyone who does any sort of regular shopping knows it. Quit trying to sell us Target, it's good for some things, but they have the worst customer service I have ever witnessed, the most ridiculous return policies, and their "trendy" Pier 1-like products are a ripoff.

I don't know about bad customer service but their return policy is possibly the worst on earth. Enough so that I think twice about ever buying something there.

I remember they told my sister that she could not return an item (with receipt) b/c she's returned to many items in a year...she went ape nuts on them

Don’t work for them anymore, but my wife does.

How is it false? I know for a fact that 90% of like-items are within cents of the same price at both stores. Every wal-mart I've ever been in feels extremely dirty to me while all the targets I've ever been in are the exact opposite. That doesn't even mention the congestion.

Customer service is bad everywhere now, and I've never had a problem with their return policies, just keep your receipt.

Whoever told her that was wrong; it's only when you DON'T have a receipt that you can only make a certain amount of returns per year.

My wife tried to return a picture frame we got as a wedding gift (obviously no receipt) and they told her that they didn't sell those frames. But we registered for it there. She argued to no avail. And then she went in there and found them still on the shelves. She argued to no avail. I mean I don't think they were purposley trying to screw us there, but I do think that nobody was using their heads and seeing the logic that maybe something was incorrect on their part.

If you have a registry there and return something but have no receipt, you can use your registry # as your receipt.

As a former Wal-Mart employee...

You can return anything, as much as you want. Receipt or no receipt.

I witnessed our store, on several occasions, take back products that had not been sold for over 10 years, or products of the "K-Mart" and "Target" brands. Why? Because if you don't give the person what they want... they call corporate. If they call corporate, your Wal-Mart is going to have an issue with the corporate office. (Corporate will give anyone a refund and a 25$ gift card if their local WM doesn't give them what they want.)

So, if you ever don't want something anymore, take it to Wal-Mart, and raise heck. You'll get some cash.

i do my homework in regards to grocery shopping and wal-mart is cheaper than the others. in fact a local tv station did a survey on key items in the roanoke area and found wal-mart the cheapest then kroger, food lion, ukrops. Is kroger and Ukrops cleaner?? oh yeah, but wal-mart's prices are better. now for a quick stop item, sure a kroger will do. and i think you will find that list of items cheaper at wal-mart than target is bigger than you think. i actually prefer target, it is cleaner and the service is better, but in these times you have to be prcie conscious IMO.....and dont forget about gas at wal-mart just like the krogers that have them.

Yes groceries at wal-mart is cheapest hands down. I'm not saying that, most targets dont have the groceries like wal-mart, but I'm talking about your everyday items i.e. toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, detergent, even electronics, the prices are virtually the same.

Uh, that's not what they told us when we tried to return a bunch of stuff. I tell anyone who's getting married not to register at Target, go Bed Bath & Beyond, better stuff, and they'll give you cash for your returns. Not only does Target have an absolutely horrible return policy, you get a different answer from each different person you see at the "customer service" desk. One time they told us you can only exchange something, and it has to come from the same department as the item you're returning. Huh? My wife is on the "you can no longer return anything here" every year, it's pathetic.

They were wrong, trust me I know.

They do make minor changes to their return policy from time to time and that obviously is a problem since most people at guest service don't know what they're talking about.

That really is a problem that is beginning to show at all places that employ college/high school students, etc.

I might be willing to put up with the overall crappiness of Wal-Mart if they weren't always out of something I'm looking for. I remember one time they were out of skim milk.

SKIM MILK.

yeah walmart pretty much has the most advanced inventory control system on earth. They replenish every night. You must have come in right after an army of pregnant women cleaned it out or something.

and now that they are remodeling it has tripled the problems

Another reason I only go to Target

I don't know when you guys will realize that everything you can get at Wal-Mart you can get at Target for the same price or cheaper and you don't have to deal with all the congestion and filth at Wal-Mart.
Not if you want to go grocery shopping, like more than just snack food type stuff, like the frozen meats stuff and etc. I haven't seen at target.

Target does sell groceries, and if you want frozen meats, there are places other than Wal-Mart to get those.

I went to Wal-Mart to buy some wire cages for my tomato plants, but they were out; next I tried Home Depot, but they have been sold out for 3 weeks. Finally, I tried my neighborhood True Value on Route 221, and they had plenty of cages.
I love it when the little guy can keep stuff in stock with the big national retail chains can't. :clapping
