Then why is a better team in a better conference signing him on??

I am not saying BJ didn't have his flaws, but he is going to be missed as a leader, and on the stat sheet.

Just because we have a lot of freshman doesn't mean any one or two of them will be good.

More does not mean better.

because they want him on their team. isn't that kind of obvious?

It doesnt guarantee him PT just b/c he's on their team. They prob have 3 players deep on their bench that wouldnt touch the floor even here

I feel like we've been having this argument for 4 months now.

it could be a lot of reasons...do all of our Scholly players play when we're healthy? Nah

It could be as an insurance piece...I'm not saying he WILL NOT play, I'm just saying that this is just as likely

There really is nothing to argue about when it comes to BJ & Curry.

I liked BJ and valued him as a solid player, but the idea that he was gonna start over Curry is completely absurd. There's no way that a Big South school lands a talent like Curry without making certain gaurantees.

There can really be no serious speculation about that.

We may not be able to prove whether it was dreadlocks or playing time, but the fact remains, Curry is the starter and the main guy in the backcourt---regardless.

No one said BJ was going to start ahead of Curry. I expected them to start alongside each other. Last time I checked there were 2 guard spots, and maybe more considering how our roster stacks up.

McKay is clearly going in the direction of youth and is thinking about longterm solutions. Anthony & Kyle are his chosen leaders from his upperclassmen ranks. They fit in nicely with what he is trying to accomplish on many levels. The new guys will ultimately benefit from the chemistry and leadership that will initiate from them.

If BJ took his time, he probally found a good fit with Murray and their coach. I wish him the best.

Seriously Dox....youve lost your mind. Unless Mckay is writing you personal e-mails with that information i guess you haven't watched " a chosen leader" complain more than Kobe Bryant about calls that don't go his way.

Say what you will, but it should be fairly obvious, if you are paying attention.

Clearly, the new guys will be intitially guided by Anthony & Kyle. McKay has a great deal of trust in both, and both can be counted on to put their personal interests aside and do what's best for the team and what's best for the program in the long run.

I will say exactly what i feel, and i feel your a hippy who smokes too much of his product. Kyle has not shown he can put his emotions aside and do whats best for the team, in fact he has shown me the exact opposite.

the way Smitty is putting in time right now and the work he is putting in shows that he deserves the role of a leader and he is a lead to these guys, but cmon man, you cant be serious. Even if he came out and said that Ohman is a new leader for the team I still wouldnt believe it, and I would probably be ticked at McKay for doing that. I love the story of Ohman and how he worked so hard to make the team and worked his way into a role on last years team, but RocketFan is right, he cant lead himself emotionally let alone a group of Div I athletes. I just dont see it, but if you share what youre smoking on I think the world would be a MUCH better place because we would all have those crazy goggles that you look out of.

Again, I'm only talking initially. McKay knows that he can depend on both players to make the neccessay sacrifices involved with stepping up in a situation like this. And I'm sure that they will and that they'll do what's needed in order to bring out the best in the new guys. I'd imagine that McKay would expect some leadership to emerge at some point from the new group as well.

My only concern here, is what's happening on the court. I'll leave all the personal issues and dreadlock talk to you all :P

Indeed!

Yep, after 30 yrs LU is finally cracking down on the student-athlete. Must be that new Gestapo, Jerry JR. Poor dude was headed for apparent double-secret probation.

On a much more serious note, it is my understanding that this whole thing can be narrowed down to cheap salad dressing at the student salad bar. Poor guy took a liking to some kind of upscale vidalia onion stuff that simply wasn't available at LU. Needless to say, LU worked something out with Sodexho, and my sources assure me that students can expect noticible upgrades at the salad bar next semester!

In the immortal words of Jack Palance, "confidence is very sexy."

You should try it sometime. It may involve some trust and it may involve a little risk. But you'll be ok. Hey, wait a second. Oh No! How can you be so sure? This is a real dilemna! Or is it? How do we know it's a real dilemna? What is a dilemna? What is sexy? Is that even a good thing? Hey..............????? :?

Only if you have half a clue of what you're talking about. Beyond that, "sexy" turns into "buffoonery" rather quickly.

Funny you should mention having a clue 8) Long before BJ made it official, I had to field attacks everytime that I suggested BJ seemed destined to be odd man out and that the new guys were going to play much bigger roles than what was being suggested on this board.

But, I wouldn't call any of these guys buffoons or un-Jack-Palance-like, or anything like that. Sometimes perceptions develop from personal assumptions. In other words, if a regular student is having difficulty with particular rules or the philosophy of an institution, then they may possibly read thier own personal struggles into the student-athlete's situation, and conclude falsely----especially if there's a vague notion of it out there in the rumor-mill.
