Fly him 3000 miles to manage one game then fire him. Nice organization.

He's already been picked to asst coach the All Star game. Wonder what uniform he will wear if he's still there.

CJ, Bobby hasn't been unemployed since I was a Senior in High School (2003-2004).

But seriously although Randolph has struggled he isnt the source of all this crap and a new manager will not bring in success. The problem is we have a bunch of washed up bench players who Omar Minaya thinks can add something to the team. We brought up all our top notch prospects and now 2/5 are gone and Mike Pelfrey isnt exactly panning out to be awesome just yet. Our relievers have been tick poor and there was never a guy Willie could count on.

Problems with the Mets that werent solved by firing Randolph:

3 of our 4 best outfielders are hurt.
We have no depth
Our relievers are horrific
Carlos Delgado's .220 average (due to inability to recover from injury)
Carlos Beltran's salary
The absense of Gomez and Milledge (Sure we got alot in return but seriously, Fernando Tatis?)
Angel Pagan (awesome name) is almost ias injury prone as TB
Players who need a wheelchair to get to the plate (Casanova, Alou, Tatis, Easley, Anderson, Delgado, now Trot Nixon)
Our farm isnt as strong as it used to be
Omar Minaya

I have to agree about the farm system. Norfolk used to be the home of the Mets AAA team for 30 plus years and the Norfolk management was not seeing eye to eye with the managemnent in New York and so when the affiliation deal came up...it wasnt renewed.

Well thank you...but as someone from that area I personally was very sad to see the Mets and the Tides end their relationship. There have been some pretty decent players that came through Norfolk and played at old Met Park and then Harbor Park before going up to New York. It still feels odd seeing Baltimore when I read the IL standings in the newspaper when Im at home.

Randolph to Omar

Do not let me get on this plane (to LA) if you're going to fire me. If I'm not the guy for this team then let me go now.

Not only did he let him get on the plane, but he fired him less than 24 hours after that conversation.

heartless move...and Omar will be losing his job here soon b/c of it....he was on thin ice as it was
