Alright just from what I have seen so far from the new girls...Again this is just what I think
Devon Brown- Just a great overall player. Great attitude and happy to be in the gym. Her outside shot falls for her, but it needs a little work to fine tune the form to keep it from getting blocked a lot. I saw her high school tape and she played anywhere from the 2-4 but she wouldnt be tall enough to play the 4 here, but she is a truck. She crashes well for a board from the wing and comes up with a lot of them and can still bang enough down low with a long 3 or small 4 to play against them. Depending on the situation she could help a lot. I think as long as she has the work-ethic to survive on the college level, she could be a big help to us.
Kylee Beecher- I really like Kylee because deep down inside she has that go-get-it winning attitude. Shes a quiet player and seems shy at times, but not when she steps on the floor. She is a long 6'4" who loves to rebound and knows her role well. She loves to post players up and does pretty well. She has a mid-range jumper that will fall for her as well. She can turn and face and attack off the dribble as long as she sets her mind to it. I had seen her in high school and on the AAU circuit some, but she has improved a lot and I hope is ready to play. Her only drawbacks that I have seen thus far are speed and posting technique. When I talk about the post technique I mean when she posts she doesnt give the guards really that lead hand where she wants it and doesnt hold the defender off enough to keep them from getting to the pass, but if she does she knows what to do when she catches.
Amber Mays- I havent worked directly with her I have just seen her play here and she has flashes of greatness, but I have only seen shoot-around and things like that with her. Has great handles and could take someone off the dribble. Nice 3 ball and jumper (left handed). Like I said all ive seen her in is shoot-around and things like that so thats all I know from her.
Danika"Texas"Dale- I really see a lot of potential with her. She is defiantly the player that the coaches will have to work with the most because she has a lot of things she needs to learn. Form is a little wierd looking (not that thats a bas thing sometimes. See: Marion) but it works and she knocks down a lot of 3's and likes to do that. Shes a pretty good athlete and can grab a handful of rim when attacking so if she can get moving inside like a BJ Jenkins she could be a nice slasher for us. Her downfalls skills wise are just her dribbling and overall toughness. She will hit a brick wall when she gets to the college game if she doesnt get a little more physical, but she is really trying. Other than that her only other thing is mental. When her mind gets tired or she misses a few it starts to get to her, but she will learn.
Brittany Campbell- I think between her and Devon these will be the 2 freshman that have the most impact on this team. Brittany is a lights out shooter and only getting better every day. She can dribble well and can also hit the midrange shot and can attack the basket well off the dribble. Moves well without the ball and could be a great long 2 or 3 to push into a fast break situation. Ive been working with her on coming off of a low screen to getting a catch and knocking it down (Like Reggie Miller, Ray Allen, and Rip). In that same kind of stuff, making sure shes running her person into the screen and reading the defense to know where to go. She just impresses me everyday with her shooting. Her form is pure and she has a NICE HIGH release and refuses to quit. Its just rare to find a shooter who can handle the ball and could possibly go to work in the post. Kind of outside of the basketball realm her attitude is just great, she is always wanting to be in the gym working and Loves being at Liberty and could really be our next poster child for this womens team. Work-ethic will NEVER be an issue with her and she always takes advantage of a good opportunity to get better. Her downfalls only lie in her mind. Ive been working a lot with her giving her a pass that is a little low or high or just off period and she has to fix it. On those bad passes she has a hard time getting in the right mind frame to shoot, but she is getting better at that. If she misses a few in a row (which is rare) she will let it get to her head and once she calms down she is fine.
I worked a little last night with Kylee, but more with Danika and Brittany. I brought in special guest Rell Porter

and had him Play defense on them coming off the screen to the shot for about 2 and a half hours and They just got a lot better and they enjoy playing the game and making themselves better. This is a great class of girls by Coach Green and his staff and....Get ready guys... I dont know if youre ready... Im excited about GOING AND WATCHING our girls team this year!
