We seem to be short in options in this category. But I'll gladly add choices to the poll as new places are mentioned.

Red Lobster is terrible (except for their buscuits). Harbor Inn is pretty decent. I never realized how lame the seafood is in this town until this thread.

Honestly I think its a challenge to get really fresh seafood in a town like this because the nearest body of water is a good three hours away. I know back in Tidewater we can get fresh seafood in spades

I have never gone there and not walked out with a box full of food to take home. They could probably make a lot more money if they didn't give people that much.

Even Harbor Inn's lite menu is more that you can eat. They've added a lot to the appearance of the place recently, including a fake shark on the side of the building about ready to eat a a fake scuba diver, very JAWS like.

My only complaint about the place is that their catfish is "salt & pepper" meaning they don't use corn meal like they do in the Deep South.

The only other seafood places in town are Captain D's & Long John Silvers.

Funny / not-so-funny story:

When my wife was younger, her parents took her to Red Lobster to celebrate some special occasion and she ordered lobster. A little time went by before the food arrived when, all of a sudden, a commotion started up in the kitchen. It sounded like a couple of pots going over so everybody in the restaurant turned to look -- of course -- just as three lobsters came crawling out the kitchen doors in an ill-fated quest for freedom. The cooks quickly corralled them, however, and they were hustled back into the kitchen where they presumably died a slow, painful death. My wife changed her order. So did a lot of people.

I don't even know where this place you guys are talking about is.

Then again, I don't know where half the places you guys are talking about are.

We just dont have many here Sly...like I said before, I'll go to places like Outback for my Seafood which mainly only consists of their King Crab Legs

Or the Tuna Sandwich from Depot Grill or Neighbors is really really good

I did enjoy a wonderful piece of halibut at Millstone. Twin Oaks has some good stuff too. Even a Bonefish Grill would be welcome in this category.[/i]

When I worked at the Lynchburg Ale House, they had a raw bar that had some decent seafood that was actually pretty fresh. Which was nice because you would need all the fuel you could get for the inevitable fight you would have later at the Ale House. Good times.

There is a really good seafood buffet every friday night in the colonial dining room of the natural bridge hotel. All you can eat crab legs in a huge boiling pot on the buffet, oysters, clams, shrimp, stuffed crab, salad and dessert bar with a rather large wine menu with some wine from locals....its fun. I think it ranges around 25 a person for the buffet, but its something new to try!

that's not a bad price for a seafood buffet at all.

As a proud former employee of Harbor Inn, I voted for them. They hate Liberty - but love to hire Liberty students (There were 3 of us that worked there last year). And they give you a lot of food for a small amount of cheese. And if you go on Sunday, you get a free salad buffet. They have an autographed picture of me...er, Sparky, hanging in the kitchen.

There's a fresh seafood place on Bedford Ave. (off of Rivermont) that serves a seafood lunch there everyday. Has anyone been there for lunch? I think it might be called the Blue Marlin.
