I remember when that floor came. We were wondering if Burger King was going to sponsor us and change the basketball in the middle to a "whopper". We actually called the Vines Center the "home of the whopper" for a while. Whomever had that idea for the floor should have been fired for just suggesting it! Ugh!!

I'm guessing that was a year we were good. And we were playing Tech. Also, I'm a bit skeptical about something like that ever having been photoshopped. Any additional details like when and in what publication?

That picture was the cover of the 98 media guide. Supposedly that was a game from the previous year.

Two thoughts:

1) Yes that IS photoshoped (although the EXACT editing program I have no idea!) I have good inside sources on that one!!

2) The "Burger King Crown" holds a special spot in my life. It was on THAT VERY FLOOR where I first met the current/future Mrs Purple. Possibly one of the greatest pick up lines EVER:

ME: "Geez, I bet McDonalds is really P*&%d"

ME: "Well they have a nice sign up there by the scoreboard and Burger King has their crown on the floor!!"

The rest ladies and gentlemen is a case study in marital bliss!! We still laugh about it when we are riding together and pass a BK. Ironically we both HATE BK
