If you had any clue the training or skill it took to play soccer you wouldn't say that. Soccer at the top level is as hard if not harder than any of the major American sports.

My fault, it was a Columbian keeper that scored against Poland. Here's a clip:

SJ - Easy now. I am not a big baseball fan, but hitting an object moving in a shifting director at between 85 - 105 mph with a piece of wood is still the most difficult thing in sports. Soccer does take skill, but it is about middle of the pack. (Have you ever tried and Iron Cross on the Rings!!) American football is flat physical, so getting hit by a 265 lb linebacker who is running fast while you are running fast in the OPPOSITE direction, that sorta hurts and takes courage. Basketball requires eye hand AND foot coordination, soccer only foot and eye (Hand if you are Maradonna) I would even put golf up there a little a head of soccer.
Don't get me wwong I can not WAIT till the world cup starts, but let us not get carried away!

The hardest thing to do in sports is hit a baseball. I won't deny that.

Playing soccer at the highest level is harder than hockey, and probably harder than basketball. Football is physical but soccer is extremely physical as well. People don't give soccer the credit it deserves. Those guys run something like five miles EVERY game, along with the other crap they do.

I think rating a sport's difficulty is getting carried away. Is it even possible?

SJ That is why I am going with a motorskills position. Basketball players run an INSANE amount. How many back to back soccer games are there?
Now to get really fun lets take a look at the following:
Hitting a staionary ball off the ground with a large piece of metal. (GOLF)
Hitting a moving object with another moving object (Baseball)
Putting a moving object in a stationary object that is only 2 or 3 inches larger in circumference (Basketball)
Kick a stationary object with your foot/Kick a moving object with your foot (Soccer)
Move on a frozen surface with foreign objects on your feet with 15 - 20 lbs of equipment and striking a small rubber pellet with a curved "wooden" stick, while both are moving (Hockey)

Just some fun. Not dissing soccer at all b/c I like it. Just some food for thought

Unless you have played soccer at a somewhat high level then no one realizes what goes into it. You don't realize the LITTLE things that make it so tough.

I'm sure that's true of every sport.

SJ relax. I did play in HS, so I know a little, but that is true in EVERY sport. No one is saying that it ISN"T demanding, just maybe not the most demanding (as you stated)

I never said it was the hardest of all. I said it was as hard, if not harder. I did not say it definitely was harder without a doubt. Too many people that don't know about soccer think it's just kickin a ball around for 90 minutes (if they even knew it was played that long).

If anyone watched this game today, you would have became an instant soccer fan. Costa Rica is an exciting team to watch especailly during last year's world cup. Their games are usually high scoring between both teams and Wanchope is one of the most talented players around.

I had to go do some work for my dad so I missed the second half. I'm watching Poland/Ecuador now. Ecuador's up 1-0 in the 26th minute.

had to mow the lawn and pick up Jr at the bus stop so I missed the 2nd half as well.

Final was 4-2, Deutchland- despite 2 goals by Wanchope.

Miroslav Klose had 2 as well.
