crying about calls???? lindy ruff is the master of crying about calls. i think you are short-changing your sabres, and not giving the canes credit. buffalo is a solid team and they could have won that series, so the fact they pushed carolina makes carolina not able to beat edmonton?? i don't care how many injuries buffalo has, they are a griity never say die team, that would beat edmonton. this long layoff will hurt the oilers, and carolina will capitalize. true champions play through slumps, and carolina did just that in this series, they wer not their best, but pulled through and are eastern conference champions for the second time in 4 years!....nuff said

well i have the honor of taking GMTM to raleigh for his first stanley cup finals experience tonight. this should be another exciting series and not b/c im a canes honk i think they will win...they have more talent and they have home-ice advantage. GO CANES!

I turned to the game and it was 2-0. Right after I turned it, Edmonton scored another goal. I changed the channel and Carolina scored. I kept it off and Carolina tied it up.

WOW is all I can say that was the best $_ _ _._ _ that I have spent in a long time.... What a come back... Smoothie was right Canes fans do it right from the tailgating to the end of the game... Game 5 next week is really sounding good... All we need now is for Flamesfan to say that Edmonton choked and Carolina was lucky to comeback.....

well, im physically and emotionally drained from that game! it has to be one of the best stanley cup final games of all time. i really thought it was over when it was 3-0, but i said if the canes could get one by the end of the 2nd period we could win the game, since they are a 3rd period team. i have to say i thought the referee botched the penalty shot call, but after watching ESPN, it was an excellent game. i do hate it that roloson blew out his knee. he carried that team in the playoffs, and i really do not want to hear excuses if the canes can win it all. great atmosphere at the RBC, and if anyone is a fringe fan, i wish you could have wtached this game live or at least on the tube. im looking fwd to wed night!!!

Seriously, I love hockey but they have to take it off of OLN! The networks have to bring it back somehow because I heard Mike and Mike in the Morning on ESPN2 say that more folks watched the 1st game of the women's softball championships than the Stanley Cup! That is UNBELIEVEABLE!!!
The averaged 611,000 homes which is basically almost no one watching. It seems like there may have been more people there live than watching on TV! I wish I could have seen that game though because it sounds like one of the best finals openers in years and we have had some good ones. Edmonton is done since they lost their goalie though IMO. We shall see. Don't want to jinx the Canes or anything.

now he is a comedian!!!! i would keep your day job! it is true other than the triangle, edmonton,and probably the rest of canada, no one cares, other than true hockey fans. the NHL is truly a fringe sport, and OLN has it b/c no one else wanted it. ESPN offered but the NHL did not like the $$ amount they were offered, so now they are stuck. maybe the ratings will go up when it moves to NBC for games 3-7....i doubt it though. if someone could find a way to boost their ratings, they would have a job with the NHL for life! honestly, i could care less if no one is watching as long as the canes hoist the cup im happy.

Trust me on this one Smoothie, you will be over joyed when/if your team wins the cup! I can still remember being a kid and having the Flyers win it back to back. We have been back to the finals about 5 or 6 times since but were unable to close the deal. I would love it if we got it back. I am sure Medic feels the same. I think the rating will go up when NBC has it just because it is in way more households. Howeva (said in a Stephen A. Smith tone), The numbers will have to improve dramatically to really show folks that Hockey is worth investing in from a network perspective. Let that be a lesson to the other leagues: Lockouts and strikes can sometimes kill your sport.

well, one step closer to hoisting the cup in the sunny south!....im sure Lord Stanley is rolling in his grave......God rest his soul! the canes were dominant in victory, and the oilers were real chippy late in the third period with some cheap shots. it seems the oilers coach is just way to placid...no energy, no enthusiasm. im sure they will get one back when they get home, but im saying canes in 5 at this point.

I kind of liked Edmonton getting chippy. It made for a sideshow during the slaughter. Seeing them so frustrated was nice.

Getting chippy is no good when cheap shots occur like the one georges laroque did that got him the gate. one of the canes could have had a serious neck injury if he had hit the boards in a different way. if they want to pile up penalties, that's fine, but keep it clean.

well a great game last night, though the canes lost a close one 2-1. let me tell you the atmosphere as SCAR, GMTM, and i watched from stately scarborough manor was incredible. the fans were chanting the whole game, and the pre-game was electric! if the oilers goalie can continue to play like he did last night, this could be a seven game series.

Oh I am beyond excited right now. I was back home over the weekend for a wedding and got to watch Game 3 with some friends in Durham. Then tonight I'm home just in time to see Game 4...I definitely have it bad. If the Cup doesn't come to Raleigh now, I will be incredibly frustrated. A Game 5 victory is just what the doctor ordered.
