Who says it's wasting money? If they're going out anyways, say to get food or go shopping, and drive the extra seven minutes to pay $1.50 as opposed to $5, it's not really losing money, especially if they go with other people.

My wife wanted to go to the tanning salon a few times before we went on vacation since she burns so easily. So, she went by a tanning salon right by our house. I couldn’t believe the prices on this!
