winthrop has a good chance to get to the super regionals. they square off against UNCW in the chapel hill regional and the other teams are UNC and maine. UNCA get the #1 overall seed clemson. The SEC led the way with 8 teams and the ACC and Big 12 had 7 teams each. one question to the gurus, since UNCA is playing clemson, does that mean they were the worst of the automatic qualifiers. BTW, the guy on the ESPN selection show called winthrop a sleeper.

I know my Heels didn't play well in the ACC tourney, but that might have been a blessing when it's all said and done. 1. They didn't kill there pitchers and 2 if they play Winthrop again they will remember that lost from a few weeks ago, that said I don't like Winthrop getting out this regional

How the Tigers are the #1 overall seed is beyond me. I was at Prairie View this morning to get their reaction to facing the real #1 seed. But since they had never been to the tourney before, they had no idea how to set up a watch party. I followed the team from one building to another looking for cable until finally the coach got a call that they would be playing the Owls Friday. What a mess.

Wake me when the Owls & Horns are in Omaha.

hopefully the tarheels will make a good run this year. Winthrop in my opinion has an outside shot of making it to the super regionals. UNCA has no chance at all.

waaaaah sly! :D look at the resume. clemson won the ACC which im sure you think is weak, but they had the same amount of teams as the big 12 and the last i looked at the RPI, the ACC was right in the mix in the top 20. in fact all seven ACC teams are in the top 15. no doubt rice has a great program and has some big wins this year, but they also play in CUSA, which this year was average with only four teams in the dance. just understand that baseball and all other sports exist outside of texas....start giving the ACC credit. everyone else is!

Yeah, the ACC has proven how great they are in Omaha the past few years.

We'll see how many of these ACC schools even make it out of their regionals.

As for Rice, I will grant you that C-USA was down this year. But take a look at the Owls non-conference schedule. It is easily the toughest in the nation.

Frankly, I don't see anyone being head & shoulders above anybody else this year. But I fully expect to see both the Horns & Owls making more bigtime noise at Rosenblatt and keeping the title in Texas.

guess who was the first national seed to go home???? a team from the mighty big 12! see-ya huskers!!! UNCA was very respectable in two close losses, and winthrop got hammered by carolina as well. and some surprising upsets so far.

i had to let out a little chuckle on that news after watching UVA's debacle. when i heard that the horns lost, it brought a smile to my face. see sly, unlike yourself gloating on texas, the big 12 and rice, i just kept it low key, and wow an ACC team beat the mighty horns! better luck next year sly!!! :D

I have to admit I am shocked at what went down in Austin. It was ugly.

But it just opens the door for Rice to walt to the title again.

I think it was a vast right-wing conspiracy to keep UT out of Omaha!

Oh well, let's go find those Owl hats. To bad they can't find a way to get the MOB on the field for the 7th inning stretch.

I was over at Reckling this afternoon for their 7-2 thumping of the Bears. Baylor bounced back but the Baptists will have to beat Rice twice on Monday to advance to the Super-Regionals.

Hold up here a second, I'm the one actually from North Carolina. They're my Tar Heels before they're yours. You get them second.

The Tarheels move on to the College World Series. After surrendering the lead to the Crimson Tide of Alabama in the top of the ninth inning in Tuscaloosa, UNC comes back in the bottom of the ninth and we win with a walk off 2-run homerun. That shot stunned the home crowd (Alabama Fans). Lets go Heels......

As hard as it is to believe, I (a very loyal VT fan...except in ice hockey and women's bball) am entertaining the notion of considering to pull for Miami to beat Ole' Miss in order to give us half the field in the CWS.

Only problems I have:
1. Its Miami
2. I'm considering Ole' Miss for grad school

But on the other hand, the thought of an ACC team winning the CWS might be enough to send Sly to years of counseling...

Hey, give Sly a break. He still has the HORNS.

(oops, uhm, never mind. Strike that last thought).

He still has MIZZOU to represent the Big 12.

(dang, they'll be done, too, after tonite)

Guess he's on the RICE bandwagon, then. They DO have a legit shot.

The owls lost to the Dirt Burglars today meaning there will be a 3rd & deciding game Monday. The Owls are the hometown team for me right now and they would probably by the odds on favorite to win the whole shebang. Now if the Land Thieves pull off the upset tomorrow then the CWS is wide open.

Guess we will find out, SOONER or later:

Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain
And the wavin' wheat can sure smell sweet
When the wind comes right behind the rain.
Oklahoma, Ev'ry night my honey lamb and I
Sit alone and talk and watch a hawk
Makin' lazy circles in the sky.
