Next year, on the roster, it'll be listed as Johnny Stephene R-Freshman.

So, who do we think will get redshirted if anyone?

Austin Smith, Sanders, or Brolin Floyd?

all 3 of them are needed immediately. But I would guess Austin Smith if anybody. But I don't think anybody will be.

We will have 12 players on scholarship, 5 being true freshman, and you don't think we'll redshirt any? How many guys will get playing time? Who?

1
BJ Jenkins
Jesse Sanders

2
Jeremy Anderson
Kyle Ohman
Johnny Stephene
Seth Curry

3
Anthony Smith
Brolin Floyd

4
Tyler Baker
Sammy Jackson

5
Carter McMasters
Austin Smith

All 12 schollies accounted for.

The most logical redshirt when looking at that depth chart is Curry. And we know that's not gonna happen. Floyd may be the next logical if Baker can slide over to the 3 if needed. Maybe Curry will be more of a 1 than we think and we can redshirt Sanders. The 2 is gonna be crowded. I think Ohman and Anderson better work on their handle over the summer.

Baker can move over to the 3, and I could see 2 of your 2's in at the same time like Stephene/Anderson or Curry/Ohman, etc.

I just don't think it's realistic for 12 guys to get playing time, and it would be smart for someone to redshirt.

If ya don't think that the new guys are gonna play, then you're in for a huge surprise. And yes, Curry is still the main guy in the backcourt.

You're right, it's not realistic at all. But the only redshirting that's gonna break up having 5 freshman obviously would have to be one of the freshman redshirting. The only position where we have depth that looks like a frosh isn't needed, it's who is projected to be our best player who is the only candidate. I think, nobody will be redshirted and Stephene will see clean up duty and Ohmerson will take a significant hit in minutes.

By the way if Ohmerson catches on as a term for those 2 than I get all the credit.

And in your mind, it's "logical" to redshirt Curry???

Nobody is saying the new guys aren't gonna play. We know they are, but someone out of the 12 isn't going to play and more than likely 2-3 won't see time.

This season will be interesting to say the least, the only sure thing is Anthony Smith.

no, let's use a little big of educated reasoning here. That position is stacked, there's 2 freshman and you can't RS Stephene. So all that's left is Curry. But I know we're not gonna do that.

Why don't we just redshirt Ohmerson

Because then your pushing your "upper" classmen closer to the playing year of the freshman. Anderson would make for 6 sophmores 2 years from now. Maybe you could do it with Ohman. but you'd still have the same problem in a year.

Your reasoning doesn't allow for verstatility in terms of position. There will be many combinations used by coach McKay as far as the perimeter players is concerned. Many 3 sometimes 4 or even 5 perimeters at a time. In my opinion if you only have 12 guys that can play, no one will redshirt. Now if you have 2 or 3 walkons that you can count on, then they might put one of the freshman on the shelf.

Curry is on a much higher level, so he plays. Being a freshman has nothing to do with it. He's the best backcourt guy, therefore he plays.

I don't think Ohman can redshirt unless it is medical.

Paradox, that's what I'm saying. You're agreeing. Stop trying to argue.

A lot of assumptions are being made on Mr. Curry right here. Has anyone in this discussion actually seen Curry play? I know he's looking All-World right now -- particularly in light of his brother's accomplishments -- but has anyone seen him in action? Moreso, has anyone seen both him and our other recruits in action that we could definitively say that he's that much better than the others that "we have to play him right away"?

I was playing somewhat of a devil's advocate for showing how nobody's gonna redshirt.

You said that redshirting Curry would be logical. Illogical is more like it.

You're being dumb again. If you read his reasoning, you'd see that his year plus position makes it logical but his talent shows that he's not going to be redshirted. Read. It's not hard.

As for Ohman, he's already redshirted one year.

That position is stacked, therefore, as always, the best player plays: Curry. He'd be the last guy under consideration to take a shirt.
