Unfortunately my exposure to BJJ is what makes me feel uneasy. I had a boss in Austin who was gay and even he felt uneasy about the video in a story I did several years ago as being too homoerotic for local television. Seriously.

I realize boxing has gone to pot in general as a sport but I still enjoy it far more than MMA.

Well I'm really not sure what the video and the story looked like, or who you interviewed. there are some crackpots out there that can make pretty much anything homoerotic, but those of us in the BJJ world have a pretty concrete distinction between what is gay and what isn't.

At any rate, if BJJ is gay, then Judo, Wrestling, Boxing, Football, heck, pretty much any sport involving contact would have to be gay too. BJJ is pretty much the science of completely destroying the other guy, as efficiently and easily as possible. Think high-speed kinetic chess. It's pretty close to the ultimate art of destruction to the human body (as far as the ground goes).

If anything, I should come up with a Top 10 Reasons to date a Jiu Jitsu Player shirt...lol

1. We're good with our hips
2. Knows how to work the Top, Bottom, Side and North/South
3. Stays tight in every position
4. Explodes off the bottom
etc...

pretty much, if BJJ is gay, then wrestling, judo, sambo and every other grappling sport have to be too. the point is that you should roll with somebody thats good and see how great the sport is when it's done correctly before coming to a conclusion.

I never meant to imply anything about the athletes or the sport itself. All I am saying is that watching the ground work makes me uncomfortable for the above reasons. I have nothing but respect for the skill involved in BJJ. And yes, that picture is a great example of what I am talking about.

ended up on his back, got my hooks in, flattened him out and hit him with two hammerfists, two uppercuts under his right arm when he tried to cover up, and then he made the mistake of turning his head to the left and laying it flat on the canvas so i hit him on the chin with a straight left and he tapped...

no video yet. they made one of my corners shut off the camera halfway through rd 1. guess they'll just have to spend the time, energy and money to burn me a dvd and mail it to me... didn't seem to have an issue with anyone else videoing their fights... grr...

no blood. i only hit him 8 or 9 times... i just dont think he liked it very much. happy to say i was batting 1.000 on my shots and he was a big 0.000 (thats right... 0-fer!)

the big slow wide right hand somehow loses a little bit of its effectiveness when you shoot under it and it doesnt hit you...lol

shame it didnt go to round two. the guy was gassing and round two would've been fun

oh, and i wouldn't want any part of chuck norris... he's a legit BJJ Black Belt under Jean Jacques Machado. I know there's a lot of jokes about how bad Chuck Norris is, but the guy is legit hell on wheels for anybody tangling with him. great kickboxing skills, and legit BJJ Blackbelt... no thanks... but i would roll with him given the chance... be fun to get to do some ground work with chuck. i mean shoot, i got to roll wth Hermes Franca two weeks ago, why not Chuck Norris...right? (and just for the record, Hermes WOULD school Chuck, but Chuck is still a legit Bad ---)
