well the teams included

BJ
TeeJay
Anthony
Ace
Oz
Anderson
Ohman
Quarles
Stephene
Curry
Spencer

I figured that would be a good way to gauge the talent with all of those guys playing on the court....you know, some decent competition

oh well

My only thought is that unless dickens is working in the basketball office, or has some serious insider information, You can't just assume that guys like Soup, J-Holland, Armon and Oz (although I can see a lot of validity to the last one not being included).

If I recall, we have a specific directive from daddy sly not to discuss players who will have scholarships dropped, so I won't do that.

Instead I'll list the players who WILL have scholarships next year.

In actuallity, the only players guaranteed a schollie for next year are the new recruits who signed their LOIs. This was a contract promising them a scholarship for one year only.

Curry
McMasters
Floyd
Lewis
Austen Smith
Jackson

That is 6 of the 13 scholarships

It has been published in the SID site that Stephene will be on the team next year and it's pretty safe to say it won't be as a walkon.

That's 7

It's highly unlikely the following 4 are going anywhere

Smitty
Jenkins
Baker
Anderson

That's 11 of 13

That leaves 2 scholarships for the 4 other current scholarship players with remaining eligibility. That is IF we do not lose a schollie for academic reasons OR offer one to Ohman, OR sign any additional recruits this Spring.

At least 2 scholarships will be pulled, and 4 is possible if not likely. Doesn't take a rocket scientist or inside information to figure out who the "candidates" are.

Unless we have a 'ship to offer to Julian then he will be going elsewhere. He's received a slew of offers the past few weeks after barely getting any attention his entire senior season.

Did I take the bait?

Sly, you threw us a bone with a first name, but does Texas Julian have a last name? :)

He would if I had a real reason to throw it out right now. The prospect in question just finished a spectacular senior season that brought him out of total obscurity to a legitimate DI PF prospect.

Julian Boyd, 6'6 215 PF from Taft HS in San Antonio looks like he fits this profile. He has made a soft verbal to Long Island University, but it looks like he may have better offers on the table now.

We have a schollie if McKay wants to do it. The player who would lose it would not likely see the court much next year, and I'm sure there is "alternative financial assistance" available to help him finish his degree if he chooses to remain at LU.

The facts are all that matter. There is no room for speculation. "jmdickens" can speculate on who will or will not lose their scholarship. The fact is someone will lose a scholarship. The fact is when the APR comes down on the program, Liberty will likely lose a scholarship. This would lead to one more scholarship being cut. There is no use trying to figure out who will or will not have a scholarship. The facts say that someone will lose theirs.

A month or two ago, Julian had no formal offers on the table and he was ripe for the taking. But I nice playoff run by Taft raised his profile and word spread like wildfire. Then you add in the coaches convention over the past weekend bringing in the masses to Julian's backyard ... Julian now has quite a few options.

When did this go down? I have been watching the situation for almost two months and I hadn't seen any indication. In fact he wasn't even mentioning us in recent Rivals updates.

When is the Spring signing date? If we land this kid, I'd be surprised if we DON'T find that the prospect of playing with Stephen Curry's brother played a part in his decision.

Take a chill pill Sissy. The fact is that SEVERAL current players will lose scholarships, and there really isn't much doubt as to who they will be. Speculation is what discussion boards are about. Sure it can go overboard and people can get their feelings hurt. I don't see that happening here. You are correct about the possibility of our losing another scholarship for academic reasons.

I can't find anything at scout on Julian Boyd. This guy must be way way under the radar.
