Glad to see this guy gone. lets hope he can avoid any drunken boating accidents at LSU

Durham, NC -- Joe Alleva resigned from his post as Duke University’s Director of Athletics on Friday to accept a similar position at LSU.

Alleva spent 32 total years at Duke, including the past 10 as the school’s athletic director.

I feel bad for LSU. But hopefully Duke can get an AD who actually does something productive, like help the football program. or not drive away one of the best WBBALL coaches in the country. Its a happy day for Duke fans, but again I feel sorry for LSU. Hopefully they don't let him have anything to do with football, or drive a boat.

You Dookies need to lighten up on losing Gail to UT. Duke simply couldn't compete financially with the school in Austin.

Good riddance. I don't know how this is an improvement for LSU but I'm sure glad to see him gone from Duke.

Well there were other, how shall I put this delicately, more "personal" reasons for her not to still be at Duke or in the ACC

the duke a.d. position is a figurehead position. you of all people should know that coach k calls the shots in durham. he got rid of gail because she was winning more than him.

coach k has input on everything, and if he doesn't like it i'm sure it won't happen... but the AD still does some stuff. like hire franks, roof, etc. then k got tired of it sucking and said it was time to put up some dinero and get a real coach, so now we have cutliffe.

either way, Alleva was ridiculous. All he wanted to do was jack up prices on everything, and the whole boating accident didn't help his case any. I'm glad to see him gone as are a lot of Duke alums

k will have most of the say in the new hire... and duke and k will probably hire from within. i doubt much will change around there.

i was kinda hoping k would go to lsu with alleva... (never would have happened though).

if you are talking about paul "doughnuts" dee, he is gone in june. about 4 years too late. miami is still paying coaches from as far back as 4 years ago because of the extensions doughnuts gave them and then they were fired a year later. the former women's basketball coach still has an outstanding lawsuit against the university for the way she was "dismissed". the new guy (kirby hocutt) is young and a tremendous fundraiser. his first priorities will be fixing the financial problems doughnuts has made.
