the tribe comes to town for a non-conference in-state clash with the first pitch scheduled for 6 pm. W&M won their weekend series with delaware and is 18-10 overall and 9-6 in the CAA. the flames lost two of three against a ranked coastal team, but looked pretty good in defeat. get out and watch the guys play if you can.

Seems like the first one to 15 will win... Errol just hit a 2-run bomb LU 5-4 in the bottom of the 2nd

Getting outhit 12-6. If we lose this one we will be 0-5 vs the Colonial Conference. Sad!

Tyler Truxell looked like he threw well for W&M...a good Christian kid that I wish Royer would have recruited harder.

We lose 9-7. The Colonial conference jinx continues.

But a beautiful night for a ball game, though I did miss the 9th inning so I could get home soon enough to watch the Ole Miss-OSU game in the NIT. Another comment about LU, I noticed 4 picnic tables added to the right of the stands, which is a great idea.

Was a great night for baseball. Too bad another L though and below .500 on the season. A couple of guys got hurt tonight, anyone know the status?

2 quick hitters.... I know this is a basketball comment but -- kinda re-assuring to see Asheville kept it close with OSU and no one else has (i.e. Ole Miss down 41-18 with 4 min to go in the 1st half in the NIT National Semi-final...nice).

And as to the baseball related...Don't worry LU fans, you guys will be back above .500 after this weekend. Just wanted to get out in front and predict an LU Sweep against Asheville. First game is close because of DeRatt's pitching (possible a 3-1, 2-1 or 1-0 win for LU). And then all hell breaks lose and Asheville loses the next two games by a combined score of 35-4...Don't believe me, uhhhh...how's this look? http://goasu.com/article/11759/

what is wrong with our infield? throwing the ball from ss or 3b to 1b should be the most basic thing on the field. baseball is throwing and catching. it is that easy. we cannot do that though. we have made 13 errors in the past four games.we have had 41 in 25 games. you cannot win games when you cannot field the ball. our hitting is not terrible. the era is too high. were not leaving too many runners on base and not hitting into double plays. we cannot field the ball though.

idk, if our infield doesn't improve some, we may struggle against ashville too

without question, the infielders are killing them. can't catch ground balls and when they do, they can't throw it. i saw the 3b throw two balls that i would expect to see in a beer league softball game (in the last inning of the second game when the keg is almost empty...if you know what i mean). one hit on the 3b side of the pitcher's mound and the second one darn near knocked out the catcher in the visitor's bullpen. wooooooooooooooooooow

and i almost forgot about the pop up in the 9th inning when he called off the pitcher and the ball barely clipped leather.

unlike you, i don't blame this year's problems on current coaches....in any sport. you don't want to go there with me.

The issue points to Royer's lack of ability to recognize talent in his own backyard. FWIW...the local talent that matriculated over across town was 2nd in the nation in fielding last year and batting .360 as a team this year.
