It's only natural he will be hyped up with his brother's success. Honestly, I don't think he'll be as good, but I DO think he will be 1st team all-conference >1 year.

I really wish Brew could have had another year without playing with LB in the program. He could have been all league. I don't think Brew was a bust. He shot 65% for a season at the division 1 level!!! If you shoot 45% at this level you are a super stud. Secondly, he selflessly took a back seat to LB because LB was about to make an impact on LU and big south history. Anyway, back to Seth. He could be a great player. In fact Stephen told me personally that he things his brother is better than he was at this stage of his career. However, anything short of scoring 100 points in 3 tournament games and going to the sweet 16 as a sophomore will be viewed as a failure when comparing Seth to Stephen and that is where it is unfair to the younger Curry. I have been a Stephen fan for years because Brian Woodson (who is I believe a distant relative) used to talk about him all the time. I couldn't be happier that Seth is coming to Liberty. But I have to agree with SJ. We don't want to and we shouldn't hype a kid to that level before he sets foot on campus. That said, this is a message board and as long as the hype isn't coming from the athletic staff and coaching staff, I am fine with it.

This time next year, the media will be referring to Stephen as Seth's brother and not the other way around. :koolaid

I didn't mean to say Brew was a bust because he was great for what he played. I meant to say he was hyped as the savior and it didn't turn out to be that. I don't want Curry to be hyped as the savior of Liberty basketball. He's going to be good, but he's still a freshman.

Now that is interesting. A player on our team hypes up a player that is largely unrecruited in the Charlotte area, and we don't give him a look? Whoopsy.

Also, I don't think Steph would throw his brother under the bus by saying, no, I was much better than him at his age. So I'd take that with a grain of salt. But as a fan, I take it to mean it's a 100% lock he will be better.

I can't remember exactly what was said but I believe Dell said virtually the same thing. While I was typing this I came up with a line for next season..."Dude, we're getting a Dell (Curry)! No? Ok, I'll have to work on that.

i know i am a little late to jump into the discussion...

with brew...he had alot of talent and was established with playing a couple of seasons in the big east.

yes, he had to live in the shadow of lb the one semester he was here.

would he had a major impact this past season had he stayed...really too complex to answer...how well would he have responded to a new coach. he really had to juggle alot of balls (not literally) in his personal life...just not completely sure if he would have shined. Talented= no question....

With Seth... There's no doubt he will have extra pressure being Stephan's younger bro. (opposing fans, media, etc.) However, I would guess Dad will have some great perspective in terms of guidance in his journey and RMC will be good for him. As long as we do not place any high expectations, he will be a fine player for LU.

The expectations that Seth will have for himself will be on a much higher level than anything anyone here can impose on him.

I guess if your father is a borderline NBA hall-of-famer and your NBA-bound brother is playing in the sweet-16, then you'd expect to be highly successful as well.

High expectations often lead to high results. I think that he'll do fine, and this environment will suite him well.

Seth Curry and Liberty got a mention today on the Tony Kornheiser radio show. Tony was interviewing the great sports writer John Feinstein who said something to this effect: "You know Stephen has a younger brother as well and from what I am told he shoots the ball at least as good a shooter as Stephen is. Like Stephen the major schools have passed on him and he is going to Liberty. It may be that the big boys went 0-2 on this family."

The first time I saw Steph play was last year against Maryland in the NCAA first round. He amazed me then, and have been a huge fan of his since. When I heard we were looking at his brother, I was ecstatic. When he signed here: :cartwheels

why WOULDN'T he be excited about seeing what his brother can do, rather it was Liberty of VA Tech??

You guys are going to love Seth Curry. I've seen him play a number of times, including some pickup games against superb competition. He's a player. Here's a link to an article in today's Charlotte Observer: http://www.charlotte.com/sports/story/554502.html

I heard Dell say that Davidson and Liberty are going to play each of the next two years. I look forward to it.

Thanks for coming by. I take it from your username that you are from the Charlotte area.

We are looking forward to the Davidson/Liberty matchups as well.
