That was a great reference fumble! I got a chuckle out of this.

Yea, that's actually pretty good recall. (especially right after st. patty's day) --just joking ladies

Anyhow, was that the group that won the big south and then won the play-in game?

Winning the play-in game, correct me if I'm wrong, counts as a legitimate NCAA tournement win.

It would have been nicer if he cryed on us.

I'll be sure to tell him...

I can understand fans disliking opposing players...We've even had the discussion about Garland and how opposing fans don't like his showmanship... and how his emotion can cause differing opinions.

But a kid like Smithson...Classy classy kid and a heck of a basketball player too. And I think if you ask any of your fellow Flame fans who made the trip to Asheville you'd know he's down to earth and a nice guy.

As for the game....very enjoyable and fun to be there. Ohio State just played out of their minds and shot lights out, something they didn't do all year. Hunter and the other OSU bigs were nailing 15-18foot jumpers like crazy, those guys can't even shoot free throws and haven't made anything from outside all year so explain to me that...But so it goes. 15 turnovers in the first half didn';t help either. Still a largely entertaining game until about 10 min to go 2nd half.

Kohn was part of Randy Weil's teams (coach before Eddie) and Pittman was a soph Kohn's senior year...and that team lost in the semis at LU.

The UNCA team that won in the NCAA tournament was Andre Smith's and Ben McGonagil's senior year....after Pittman was long gone.

So because the guy's agent and brother have a web-site about him and have advised him it would be a good idea to gain publicity etc. you don't like him? Jeeez. Here's a kid who grew up in extremely tough circumstances -- was told he'd never be good enough or big enough to play big time college basketball... Came from a home that was broken and had nothing monetarily, and now he's leaving school with a degree and in all likelyhood going to be playing professional basketball.

But you don't like him? That would be the type of kid I'd respect and root for, if anyone...

You want to fill us in on something????

As far as people telling him he wasnt good enough to play basketball goes..he showed them...as far as the people telling him he's not good enough to play in the NBA...well....at least he's 1 for 2 on proving people wrong

As far as respect...I respect his body and the amount of Dbol and Test-E he does....

Dear NCAA,

Bryan Smithson had an agent while still playing collegiate basketball. Will you please revoke their 2008 Big South Championship due to rules violations?

Sincerely,

"Here's a kid who grew up in extremely tough circumstances??" Give me a break!! I hate people who talk about tough situations growing up - very few people have and rosy childhood - life is tough. He got the opportunity to earn a degree for free and see the country while playing a game he loves. This is no reason to like him.

He is cocky and that is all his site does for him. He's not going to make the NBA - that's a fact! (Not a lot of NBA teams looking for a short white point guard, even Nash is 6'3", yeah SCAR I said white:) - Come on now - numbers just don't lie). Can he play oversees? - sure. You are a UNCA fan and I respect you for supporting your players - that means your loyal and that means something, but if Smithson played for Liberty and came to your high school Gym acting like he's God's gift to the Big South - you wouldn't like him either. Tell UNCA to turn down the AC, then Smithson wouldn't have to wear Knee highs:)

No one is hating the man - Everyone is just hating on the basketball player.

Wow man...that's quite a statement. As a former athlete at Asheville -- and someone who has worked out with Bryan a lot I can tell you the kid works harder at his game than just about anyone I know...and doesn't cheat either. Glad to see the classy Liberty fans are out today...

See above...your not hating the basketball player. The basketball player turned in a great season, was 1st team all big-south, and led his team to the most wins in school history.

He's not getting drafted...your right. He could go play for any number of NBA DL teams...but I know for a fact that he will be more likely to go overseas because the money is significantly better.

I never said anything about not liking (i mentioned disliking opposing players), but i said respect...and not hating on the kid. There is no basketball reason to dislike him. He plays hard -- plays the game THE RIGHT way, and is respectful both of opposing teams, players, coaches, and fans (again ask your fellow LU fans who made the trip). So your clearly hating on his personal life and story... Why?

I don't know the kid from Adam, but the fact he has his own website along with the "vibe" he puts out just screams, "I'm a giant tool." He could be the coolest kid in the world, but I don't know him. All I know is what I can see online, what I see on the court, and the vibe I get from him.

Proto...I think Fumble's right....they tend to leave one of the two doors open in the aren...gym, which is a cost effective way for them to duke people into thinking they have AC

However I hear in their new state of the art 3,000 person aren---gym (almost did it again) they will have AC...as of right now it may be window units

Smithson---its the self aggrandizing that gets me. You should let your game speak for itself rather than creating a website to pimp yourself out, creating t-shirts with the website name and handing them out. He's a decent player but he's not close to being NBA caliber and he's posting his NBA draft express thing on his website????
