This worked for my Davidson thread on the Men's side so I am going to say 10. However I would not be surprised to see us wearing our white jerseys and playing in the 8-9 game as an 8.

I went with 11, but wouldn't be surprised if it's 12. Our resume says 8 or 9, but our injuries will count against us.

I agree with you 98% Oldflame. I think your reasoning is correct but we fall to a 10.

I am going to say we will be a 10 seed. Some good non-conference wins but being in the Big South usually goes against us and bumps us down a notch.

When is the selection show for the women?

Also, will any of the injured players be back for the tourney?

Sorry I'm a bit out of the loop.

Just a question, does the committee really factor in the injuries in determining the seeding. Is that really fair. Should the selection stay to who they played rather than who they played with and will be playing with. Just curious. Is there history that supports that theory on the men's or women's side where someone from the NCAA came out and said their seeding was based on an injury.

For the men they were saying they basically looked at out of conference schedule and conference tournament -

If that's the case, I'd give us a 9 or 10

Take what you think we should get and then subtract two. We'll get a 12.

I picked an 11.

The committee SHOULD NOT look at the injuries when factoring in a seed, but it may be a factor.

The selections will be announced live tonight at 7 on ESPN.

There is definately a history of the commitee taking injuries into account. For example, this year Arizona was cut some slack because a couple of their bad losses came with key players out who are now healthy. The classic example of a team dropping in the seeding is Cincinnati when Kenyon Martin broke his leg. They were ranked #1 most of the year, but I believe were dropped to a 2 seed.

I actually don't think it would be fair to seed our ladies based on things that were accomplished by a deeper squad earlier in the year; especially the Xavier win. Not sure if we could pull that one off now.

Outside of Megan, I doubt the committee really would notice any of our injuries as long as we kept posting victories.

I suspect we are about to receive a 10 seed.

Baton Rouge? That would be a doable trip for the Sly Fox clan.

I would say if they are not aware of 2 starters down with season ending injuries, one being a first team all conference pick, then they are not aware of much.

And of course that is a distinct possibility.

The year we went to the Sweet 16, ESPN picked us as a 12 seed playing 5 seed Penn St. We actually ended up being a 13 playing against a 4 seed Penn St. The next year, they picked us as 13th against someone other than DePaul (b/c the committee tends to try to avoid rematches), but DePaul was picked 4. Both seeding picks were correct, but we had to play DePaul.

Based on that history, I think ESPN would be the closest, so I wouldn't be surpirsed to see us as a 10/11, but I think we'll be a 10.

If Ed is correct, and we add 2 to what should be, then we'd be a 9. With a 21 ranking in the RPI, this team should be no less than 7, but I'll go with an 8 or 9 based Ed's criteria and past history. But again, based on past history, nothing should surprise us here--should be interesting.

I think our weak schedule, along with no wins against the 30 will hurt us too.

The committee seems biased against 'small schools'. The guys doing the bracket projections seem to understand this. Look at the predicted seeding for Chat & W Kentucky too. Compare these 2 along with LU to BCS schools with similiar rpi & voting in the polls. IE. Neb, Texas, Syracuse, or Ohio St.... These 4 BCS schools have comparable or poorer rpi & votes in the polls - but much higher projected seeding in the tourney.

Carey Green said in the post game interview that he wouldn't be surprised if we get a 12th seed because the b-south doesn't have much respect.

I'll guess a 10, but If I were the committee it would be 8!

A few other other quick thoughts:

G Wash is the most overrated team in the polls ... Texas is the most underrated

If any schools in the top 30 rpi are omitted - it will be Gonzaga &/or UTEP

Most likely team to reach the final four or win the Nat'l champ outside of the Big 7: Duke

They will take Moriah's injury into consideration. The committee in fact already contacted LU in regards to that situation. An RPI of 21 does not guarantee anything. It's a guideline for seeding but not a hard and fast consideration. When everything shakes out, I think LU falls into an 11 seed, which is right about where the Flames want to be if they want to make a run.

True, and an 11 would certainly be welcome. With an 8 or 9, there would be no chance to make it out of the second round.
