It looks to me like Winthrop was watching the LU game Thursday, and noticed what we weren't doing well. They're doing everything right -- including keeping George out of the game.

What are you talking about? We had a horrible game plan and it's all the coaches fault.

The difference is they celebrate when they win what matters, not the first game of the conference season.

You're telling me they shouldn't celebrate winning the tournament

amen!!!!!!! thanks to WU for proving my points in other threads!
TBGBG must be napping. You beat him to the punch. Go ahead and proclaim yourself a basketball genius if you want to.

How did Winthrop score most of their points? Jenkins lit it up from deep. We got way more offensive production from the post than WU did, because we went to Alex with KG out of the game. The same shots we were missing, Jenkins and company were making. That's execution, not game planning. I don't think it's a news flash that Winthrop is a better defensive team than we are, or anyone else in the BSC for that matter. When they get the perimeter shooting they got today they are tough.

KG was clearly showing the effects of the minutes he played against us 36 hours earlier, Smithson couldn't get it going, and Garland just plain stank up the place. Combine that with excellent WU defense and the inspired game from Jenkins and you have a big WU win.

that is a really rude comment. Give it up with the grammer crap. There are other things more important. You're so intolerant up there.

i was mainly reffering to the botched dunk at the end....It might just be me but ive never really liked it when a team dunked with 2 secs left in a blowout..even my fav teams

all i mentioned for the most part was pushing KG away from the basket and that is exactly what WU did and KG was not much of a factor so i was right in that instance. you might want to leave me out of TBGBG because i said pretty much nothing to what he said. and i mentioned mostly as well about UNCA's guards being ok but not all that. so next time why you read what i said before you post.   :blahblah :blahblah

Right and the way Winthrop acted after the game today was REALLY classy too. I guess acting like an idiot after the game is what you deem 'more important.' By the way if you think what I said was rude you must get your feelings hurt about 50 times a day.

Seriously, we're all about grammar up in here!

Get out if you're gonna cry about someone else getting made fun of that you don't even know.

Did I ever say that? No.

And Winthrop was hitting their outside shots and we werent your right... The difference is we did it for 40 min and didnt try to change it.

Congrats to Winthrop! You guys put on a Clinic today and you deserved it. Nothing but the Best to you guys.

Thanks Fumble, I hope UNCA wins a few in the NIT, and they certainly could.

Thanks to all the others for the sentiments as well. Been a roller coaster season mixing veterans with freshmen. I think the veteran's experience in big games made the difference today. And Buechert and the frosh point guard played some big minutes as well.

Bottom line is WU won when it mattered most. They had the best team in the conference and turned it on for the last 3 games and showed they are stll the class of the league. Congrats to Winthrop.
