When we're talking about obeying rules like a simple dress code, curfew, etc. the passage from Romans comes into and play and these rules should be followed whether we agree with them or not.

it sounds like you are placing the same level of authority on the Liberty Way that you would give the Bible.
Both involve obedience (or in your case, disobedience) to authority.

Yeah, those are LU's (I mean man's rules), therefore I broke them, b/c I believe God could care less.....TTL, it sounds like you are placing the same level of authority on the Liberty Way that you would give the Bible. Look at all change throughout history, there was revolution and disregard for authority.....
Did you read the verses? Disobeying authority is disobeying God.

From your statements, you should never go 1mph over the speed limit, and I know for a fact that you do. If you're going to say that, you better live it completely.
Obviously people aren't obeying all the rules, otherwise, this thread wouldn't exist.

1 Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. 2 So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished. 3 For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. Would you like to live without fear of the authorities? Do what is right, and they will honor you. 4 The authorities are God’s servants, sent for your good. But if you are doing wrong, of course you should be afraid, for they have the power to punish you. They are God’s servants, sent for the very purpose of punishing those who do what is wrong. 5 So you must submit to them, not only to avoid punishment, but also to keep a clear conscience.
Thank God you weren't around in 1776.

Get back to me in 5 years when you are in the working world and President Obama of the USSA has just enacted his 75% income tax so we can re-train everyone to speak Spanish and give free healthcare to those who don't feel it necessary to earn a living.

I'm sure you'll be very supportive of our government. Since God told him to do all that.

[/sarcasm]
Bible > My stupid human wants and desires.

If those are the rules, and they don't go against the Bible, I will follow them.

That's what the Bible teaches.

If you REALLY have that much of an issue with it, you might wanna read the passages I posted, or maybe just find a new religion... because Christians are supposed to be like Christ, and Christ was obedient as he could be, even obedient to die on a cross. I can only imagine if one of you guys was supposed to be in that role...

"God it's not fair that I have to die. I didn't sign up for that, so I shouldn't have to do it..."

Phil. 2:6-8
6 Though he was God,
he did not think of equality with God
as something to cling to.
7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges;
he took the humble position of a slave
and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form,
8 he humbled himself in obedience to God
and died a criminal’s death on a cross.

Honestly, it's kinda sad that you guys are arguing against the Bible. There is no greater Truth, anywhere. I know you guys hate to be wrong, but when do you stop arguing directly in the face of God's Word?

You are right, I should. But you know what, I am a sinner. I am not perfect.

The difference here, and what makes that point ridiculously not valid here, is that I am not crying to the government to change the speed limit just because I don't want to follow it. Breaking the rules is one thing... I will admit I have cussed since I have been a Liberty student, that's against the Liberty Way. However, I did it out of my sinful nature, not our of rebellion. And I didn't expect to be treated differently or given a break if I got caught. If someone caught me breaking a Liberty Way rule, then I would expect to get reps. THAT is the main difference.

We are all sinners. Calling me out on that really doesn't prove your point. Paul said he was the chief of sinners, and I would say he was pretty obedient to what God wanted him to do, considering half of the New Testament wound up being written by him.

This is about what Romans 13 says, God put authority over us, and disobeying it is disobeying God.

:exactly

:oldhag alert here. There's a difference on campus from when I went there -- I can tell that when I'm there for homecoming or something like that. I'm not sure if it's a good difference or not, I just know there's a difference. And I'm trying not to be like the alumni were when I was there, always talking about how it was back in the day, and how easy we had it.

I never liked all the rules. I thought dress code was OK, though I hated not wearing jeans to class. I didn't like the whole "room check" thing, since I rarely made my bed (got major reps for that my junior year -- all the write-ups accumulated on me). Hair code was OK, though I didn't always pass. Music code killed me.

Point is, I knew what the rules were like when I got there. If there are students showing up at Liberty not knowing there were rules, and that they could be strict, then they didn't do their homework. Every article I've ever read about LU talks about the rules.

My sister graduated from PCC. She hated most of the rules, but her attitude was a lot like mine at LU -- I knew it going in, and I applied anyway. Even after I was accepted, I didn't have to go. We know there are rules coming in, guys -- and unlike PCC, all of LU's rules are published for us to read. Those rules are part of the campus culture, whether you like them or not.

Good example would be the parking situation on campus. Students know where they are supposed to park and not park, but if they knew they wouldn't be given a ticket (as was the case for a few days due to a miscommunication with LUPD), would students park anywhere they wanted to or where they are supposed to? Again, it goes back to obedience to authority, even if no penalty is enforced.

so cider, students who parked in any space other than their designated ones, were sinning?

Good thing Christ's blood is powerful enough to cover all our sins. We all fall short in so many ways.

If he disagrees with how I answered that, I would be very surprised.

He pretty much answered the question already, quite frankly it was just a dumb question for you to ask. If you read what he said, you would have found your answer. But instead, you decide to cry when I come in and tell you the truth, I am sorry its not what you wanted to hear, but it's the Bible. I haven't seen a single verse from any of the people crying about how the rules are unfair. If you don't believe the Bible is truth, thats a completely different issue.

you are so mean, judgemental and crazy! i didn't even say i disagreed or that i thought it WASN'T sinning. i haven't said a word in this whole thread until then either so you can't even say that you were going anything I said. You just assumed I disagreed because clearly everyone is against you and rebellious towards God in this thread but you, Cider, and few others. Don't pretend you know what I believe. And no one was crying about anything. Especially nothing YOU have to say.

Remember you asked for this.....You are the biggest crier this board has ever seen, females included. It baffles me that you make fun of anyone for "Crying". Plus your pickin on a girl for goodness sake, have you been hangin out with Flamesbball84 or something? Its one thing to have some give and take, but we all know you can't take it, so when you want to dish it i find it pretty amusing. Almost like your short term memory doesn't work or you have multiple personality disorder.

I am sorry for the misunderstanding... I just assumed since you attacked me by calling my obnoxious that I needed to defend myself, and your insults in this post kinda reinforce that idea.

saying "you are being somewhat obnoxious in this thread" is an insult? really? sorry. didn't mean it as such and didn't know you would be so sensitive. Honestly it is just quite obnoxious when someone can hardly post a thing without YOU responding: whether you were being spoken to or not.

as for the mean, judgemental, and crazy: i take back the....umm....well let me re word: you are acting Mean, judgemental, and crazy.

How was I making fun or picking on someone? She called ME out!

and I take a lot more crap than you can even imagine. But I am not turning this into some sob story about me, the main point of this thread was going just fine until someone decided to call me out and you guys started making this personal about me. I said her question was dumb, and as i already said, her attacking me with her harsh language made me think I needed to defend myself, and I am sorry for misunderstanding.

And I hope you realize making fun of someone with a mental disorder is just about as bad as me making fun of you for wearing glasses or being white. It's not like its something I choose if in fact I did have a mental condition, it's kinda screwed up to make fun of people about that stuff.
