Coach Meyer told me personally that he is safe. He can't talk about the details of course but he is fine for now just like Ray McCallum and Dan Dakich. I find it interesting that Dan was the Operations guy last summer, moved into an assistant job in October when Senderoff resigned and is now the Interim Head Coach at one of the most prestigious schools in American History. That is a meteoric rise to the top!

Maybe your right scar but I just dont know how safe you can be if you're being investigated yourself. These other 2 coach's I would consider "safe" simply b/c their name was not mentioned anywhere, but JM was on 2 or 3 different counts

Yea this sucks I really did like Sampson as a coach but I understand rules are rules. What really sucks is that DJ White and five other players didn't show up for practice on Friday.

Just because he was named doesn't mean he is being investigated. And it was 2 of the 5 accounts. Ray McCallum was with Sampson at OU and was mentioned in violations there but that didn't really prevent him from going to IU with Sampson. Jeff is pretty much out of the woods. IU will probably still get sanctioned but it won't be about Jeff and it won't be as harsh as it would have been had Sampson stayed there. Now the end of the season, all 3 coaches may be looking for a job but at least coach will be able to look for another position without a cloud of sanctions over his head. Whatever happens, the sanctions won't go with Jeff like they did or would have with Kelvin.

Here is the bottom line: It is just fun to say the word DAKICH!!!!

IU is over the hurdle. I can see them staying pat (and know not PAT knight) with what they have. All coaches have GREAT ties to recruiting the state, which is REALLY what makes and made IU IU. They have had a ton of great players from Indiana and Chicago area come to school. Ball St had some GREAT recruiting classes with McCallum on staff (even though the words "Houston, we have a problem" comes to mind) and of course Jeff has long Indiana roots and did recruit one of their more "marginal" players. To me, that looks like a good staff that can make EVERYONE happy. ALthough the Mike Montgomery idea sounds intriguing I say they keep what they have.

Keep in mind that the NCAA headquartars are in Indy and they are being bombarded with the coverage fo this latest scandal and how the IU adminsitrators are mishandling it. I would not be surprised to see much tougher penalties than what OU received because the Indiana folks knew what they were getting when they hired a known cheater.

I just don't understand why Sampson just didn't give someone not officially with the program a cell phone and have him make the calls and text messages that could not be traced to him...

I didn't know JM was at Indiana. Personally I thought it was a shame that he ever left here and I'd like to have him back.

Ummm lets keep this to Indy basketball! Matshark, I'm thinking you could get your PM box full from both sides so we'll let it stay private...lord knows we've seen both sides on these boards before!

This is a can of worms not many want to reopen! (from both sides for the record) :D 8)

He was an assistant under Bob Knight for 12 years, after playing for Knight at IU. Not so meteoric when you consider he's also been a head coach elsewhere before. Heck, he had the West Virginia job for all of 5 days before some occurrences in his first team meeting at WVU ran him off five days after taking the job (and before a contract was signed. WVU has learned A LOT from that - Rich Rodriguez, anyone?).

haha...i gotcha HMO.

I was pretty young when the whole hawaii thing went down and i still don't know what that was about, but considering I filled out a police report at 3am one night after seeing a recent former head basketball coach assault a police officer and still stick around for another year or so, I'd say LU is kinda lenient on coaches.

Yea, I know all about Dak but I was just speaking more about the months that past. To put it in Liberty basketball terms he went from Tommy Crommwell to Ritchie Mckay in 7 months.

SCAR - You can be honest and admit it. You want to do IU games just so you can use DAKICH in a sentence.!!! (Pronounced Dahgich) Think of the possibilities
