He didn't just win the dunk contest.

He dominated it.

Have you watched the videos back when the NBA players actually cared???? Spud, MJ, Nik, etc...those were the days...these will never compare....I'll give you best in the 2000's but I cant even think about taking that into the late 80's early 90's

Thank you, HMO. One of the best ever David Thompson vs Dr. J in the ABA one in 76 or 77.

Anyhow, I saw the highlights on ESPN. Pretty danged phenomenal, and the guy blowing the candle out on the cupcake was

overall the dunk contest has gone down hill...none of the biggest stars want to do it for some reason...but dwight howard was amazing last night....i think people are just starting to realize how freakishly athletic howard is...he is amazing

I thought last nights contest was the best in a very long time. I wish all of the best dunkers in the league competed, though. Dwight's bouncing it off the back board with one hand and dunking it with the other was so awesome. One of the most creative things I've seen in a while. His superman dunk was amazing for all the wrong reasons. He didn't even dunk it. I really felt bad for Rudy Gay though. He saved his best dunk for his 2nd but Dwight had stolen his thunder by doing something incredibly similar for his first. Thems the breaks.

Yeah, the superman dunk wasn't all that impressive, if it weren't for the fact that he was like, SO high in the air....

Gerald Green's dunk was the most creative dunk I have ever seen. The man blew out a candle on a cupcake that was sitting on the back of the rim!

Take 30 seconds and watch it!

The birthday cake dunk was just a regular dunk where he happened to exhale before he dunked. Big deal.

Dwight Howard's dunks were amazing.

Okay, the cape was cool. The dude didn't DUNK the ball, though! Yes, his shoulders were above the rim, but he still didn't dunk it!

He threw it down harder than anyone ever has though. I'm sorry, but a kid throwing the ball DOWN into the goal that hard is more impressive than a dunk.

The cup-cake dunk was a lot more impressive than you give credit for. He had to get pretty high up there and stay pretty focused to get that one down and blow out the candle.

However, no one held a candle to Dwight Howard... no pun intended.

Count me as one of the ones unimpressed by the cup cake dunk. The actual dunk was no better than a 7 or a 7.5 - it's a dunk that someone with Green's could easily do in a game on a fastbreak. The creativity was a 10 without a doubt. I would give it an 8 or an 8.5 at best.

a shot in which a player near the basket jumps with the ball and attempts to thrust it through the basket with one hand or both hands held above the rim.
It doesn't say you have to touch the rim, just be above it....just saying
