Watching the NBA game on WSET, and on the crawl they are reporting brush fires on Candler's Mountain, near LU. Talk about "fanning the flames!"

That could save the school $$ in having to clear the trees and brush to put more dorms up that way...

Actually, there are fires all over the area due to the high winds. The largest seems to be in the Moneta area of Bedford county.

Whew...what a relief. It would have been a disaster had all the poles for the paintball field gotten torched.

Stupid wind flipped over my daughter's playground and pretty much destroyed it. This freaking sucks. Not to mention my fence is all over the place. My yard is trashed.

Fires all over the greater Richmond area as well. No serious damage to my property, just overturned lawn furniture and things of that nature.

A guy just down the road from us had his carport lifted off of his driveway and flipped over in his back yard. I had trees in my woods lying all over the place, one of them landed about 10 feet from my car. There were downed trees all over the place. Luckily, my roof and siding is pretty much intact.

windy here, too- trees down in the 'burbs, and SCAR will find it interesting that in the city- Broad St was closed due to flying debris.

never heard of that happening before- flying bodies, yes- but normally the debris is not an issue 8)

I was driving back from a gaqme ut UR last night and saw fires all over. Saw one just this side of Richmond, near Farmville, and I saw the big one by Falwell Aviation. I saw a car flipped over near Richmond and several other wrecks as well.
I lost a bunch of shingles (like 10+) and I'm waiting for an available roofer to take a look.
