I gotta wonder if WU is not missing Marshall? In my opinion they are, but then again I have never been a Randy Peele fan. You have to think they would have won 3-4 more games with Marshall at the helm, the talent is there.

Tonight is the first time I've been upset with Peele. They weren't going to beat my church league team on saturday with the shape they were in.

Of course, I didn't think we'd beat GT and Miami either, so I have to give him credit for those. I think they just have to get a little swagger back and figure some things out on the offensive end---they have the most talent in the league but are fighting themselves on the offensive end right now.

Possibly, though Marshall's WU team lost 3 games in the conference two years ago with a team that was expected to roll through the league, losing two to Coastal and barely beating the Chants in the championship game. So this isn't uncharted territory, the big difference being that UNCA is 7-0 right now, so a three loss conference record likely won't lead to the #1 seed this year.

I would argue that UNCA and High Point are more talented this year. WU is young their young players may develop into better players, but not right now. Winthop just doesn't have the top guys they have had in the past with Bradshaw, Martin, and others.

It's really not even close, WU has the most talent by far in the league, ask any coach or athletic director. They have to figure out how to win close games on the the road though.

I would argue that UNCA may be the most talented. I would not argue that HPU is the most talented. They have 3 good players and Cruz is getting there. I would take the slashing bookend forwards from UNCA and they have the best back court combo in Smithson and KJ. Yes they are better than Jenkins and Gaynor. Both average over 5 assists per game and both are scoring in the mid teens. Jenkins is a decent defender and rebounder but a very streaky shooter. Gaynor is a prototype PG that can shoot it well when left open and is clutch. The Smithson/Garland combo is tops in the league tho IMHO. Don't forget about Moles, Smith and Augst. All talented players.

We'll find out who the best is on the last day of the season, ppg don't mean much when aren't taking into account tempo. Gaynor and Jenkins have been better for the last 3 years and I don't think that has changed all of a sudden. What's scary is Faison may be better than any of them. I can't wait for the return game and WU being healthy.

I don't think you guys will ever be healthy if the final score winds up against you ;-)

alright, I'll back off HPU. But I think UNCA is the most talented overall. But HPU is right on par with WU. Jefferson, Harris, Reid might be the best top 3 (even the almighty Taj,MJ,Gaynor)

Best 3 is a tough call. Interesting discussion though.

Smitty, TJ, McLean
Smithson/Garland/George
Reid/Jefferson/Harris
Williams/Holmes/Holmes
McCullough/Gaynor/Jenkins

On a given night any of these big 3 can beat you. I am partial to the Liberty 3 but I don't know if they are the best. I may have to lean towards UNCA. I think last year Jenkins/Gaynor were the best combo because of another big 3 Williams/Martin/Bradshaw. I am not going by just stats. I always thought KJ was really good going back 5 years ago when he was a frosh with Blair and Dees. Smithson may win POY. George is a MAJOR factor.

Williams/Holmes/Holmes

Thats prolly it, when you factor in their scoring ability and the Holmes twins play pretty decent defense.
