I'm briefly breaking my code of silence just to make sure that it's noted on FlameFans that Dr. Paul will be speaking in Convo this Friday. I do realize he's out of the race at this point, but I think Paul and the folks who have supported him represent something significant to the GOP and this country. As the Chancellor said in convo today, I hope that the student body will be respectful, even if they disagree. As he reminded us, our Founder was never given that respect when he visited other universities, so I hope we'll show the world we're different by welcoming another viewpoint.

Three out of four GOP candidates in one year. Not bad for little 'ol LU, huh?

That was worth a pop in.

For many of you it will be the first time you've heard him speak. He's a fiery old bird.

On a serious note, this guy is a nut job and he is out of the race. I would vote for Colbert before i even thought about voting for this guy. Get outta here, Im ashamed to be a flame today. I know Doc would have had him and i respect Jr. for allowing him here, I just dont like it. He needs to get a great big "Take your Business somewhere else" From LU...

Dont waste your vote on this idiot.

Because Lenin was a strict constitutionalist? Cut me a break. I understand why people wouldn't agree with him but to associate him with socialists is ridiculous.

Its so funny how easily people are influenced by what the media tells them whether they realize it or not....conservative news sources call Ron Paul crazy enough times and people start to believe it.....

Ron Paul has some views I do not agree with....but a whole lot more I agree with and I think if others really looked into him would see they agree with him more then they disagree....

with that said I understand if people don't support him...but if the student body boos him like I have heard some people say they will do I will completely lose respect for this student body....

why not?? it would be interesting to see how they would deal with speaking in a place such as Liberty instead of the normal liberal colleges they cater to....but I guess I am just radical or something....

I also think it's funny that, at a school that prides itself on strict interpretation of the constitution and of the Christian just-war theory, students throw themselves behind candidates that pay lip service to them, instead of a guy who has staunchly believed both for years.

why is he a nut job?? because the conservative media says so?? or because his ideals don't fit in a small little 30 second sound bite???

This country won't be fixed by the 30 second sound bite....

again, i do not agree with all of his stances on issues...but he is as conservative as they come and he believes in this little document called the constitution and wants to give power back to the states...wow...crazy

He really is one of if not the most conservative candidates in the race. The only problem I have wil him is he is an Isolationist. While there are some benefits to this mindset, it is flawed when you are dealing with people who are bent on destroying your country and culture for very little reason except who you are.

yeah...I am not an isolationist either...but I also never thought we belonged in Iraq....but that is a whole other thing...I think we need to meet somewhere in the middle on these kind of things...we can not police the world...but we also can not allow terrorist run free...its a tough thing to balance that is for sure....but I am not a complete isolationist that is for sure....

I tend to agree that there needs to be a balance. Our most important priority always needs to be protecting the homeland but when you are dealing with some of the people in this world today, preserving home sometimes means going outside. Of course that also means that am immediate military strike is not always the best thing.

He is not an isolationist. He believes in trade with everyone and alliances with none.

We can hunt down terrorists and still have our troops here protecting us. That doesn't mean we need to have bases in almost every country of the world. Ron Paul also understands the real reasons why terrorist attack this country and how best to combat them.

no, he does not understand why. He essentially blames it on us.

Says the guy who's AIM screen name is derived from the life of this guy...

If you think Ron Paul is an idiot, I have the feeling your understanding of politics is pretty shallow. If you disagree with his isolationist views, that's fine. If you disagree with giving government back to the states, that's fine. If you love the war in Iraq, that's fine. However, to say the guy is a nut job and an idiot just smacks of someone who regurgitates what's being fed to him via media channels.

Paul is a constitutional idealist. His chances of winning were always slim. Many of us who support him are completely aware of that. However, his presence in the race (and ability to raise funds) is important. It's important because it reminds the GOP that there are still a significant amount of people who believe in small government, liberty and the free market economy. If those three things are idiotic to you, you're entitled to that opinion, but I would suggest to you that in that case, Paul isn't the one who comes off as idiot. Conservative idealist? Sure. Idiot? Hardly.
