ye-haw.
The New York Mets have agreed to a trade for two-time Cy Young Award winner Johan Santana, giving up four prospects to acquire the left-handed ace of the Minnesota Twins, according to two high-ranking Twins officials with knowledge of the talks and a person close to Santana.

There had better not be one Bosox or Yanks fan complain about this deal. The Mets are trying to buy a title just like the boys in the Bronx and Beantown.

It sucks to be a Twins fan these days.

I hate the Mets.
Padres still have one of the top rotations in the NL so I'm happy.
Peavy, Young, Mattox, Prior, Wolf

no idea why Red Sox fans would whine about this....maybe Yankess fans...but as a Red Sox fan I am kind of disappointed we didn't get him, but far from heartbroken....its the Mets...better them then the yankees

You can have the privelage of calling it one of the top when you can spell your #3 starter and future HOFer correctly, hahah. Maddux

The only thing baseball players can spell is: BB, K, H, SB, LOB, and player's names.

How dare you expect me to spell correctly.
Time to start another argument:

Question: If youwere starting a team right now with 1 ace pitcher, which would you pick: Jake Peavy or Johan Santana? Please don't answer based on hype do the research!

BTW the reason I am so glad the Padres Pitching is so good is because our lineup is looking pretty average. So the combo of a stellare pitching staff and Petco park is a good formula for wins. However, I hope we pick up a big outfielder soon.

I'm happy he ended up in New York...with the Mets. As long as the Sox don't have to face him in the division I'm fine with it. I'd like to see Buchholz/Lester/Ellsbury mature and reach their potential in Boston. I would have been happy with Santana in the rotation for sure but I was a little leery of signing him for 7 years at this point. Good move, Mets. Now for the Twins, they kinda got fleeced here. They could have gotten top-notch prospects out of Boston or the Yankees a month ago but they got pennies on the dollar in comparison today.

I think the major sticking point that kept coming up was the fact that the Twins wanted the very best of the best from the Yankees and the Red Sox. I think the front offices of both knew they wanted him, but felt like the price in prospects was a bit on the steep side even for somebody they would be signing for a number of years. The Mets Im guessing are in sort of a win now mode so they went ahead and paid the price in prospects but the Twins did not get really full market value in this deal when they finally did pull the trigger.

Bingo!!!! It would have been nice... but there was no way I wanted to see Jon, Jacoby, and Clay get shipped off.. I really like the young talent that the Sox have and think that in a few years these 3 guys will be major faces in the franchise... I have very high on Lester for a while as long as the cancer doesn't come back he is a very, very good pitcher and I think he will have a very strong year in 08.... As Francona told me last week... We didn't have to replace many guys so the bulk of the team is intact which means a very good chance to be there in October again!!!!
