Apparently the VMI fans think we're completely tasteless because we chanted You Need Reggie at the end of the game.

Well having read the story I find it very disappointing that there are some who just have to find something to be offended about. I was not at the game but judging by your story you guys carried yourselves very well for the most part.

I will take this as a good win. This VMI team beat JMU, W & M, and hung tough against Richmond so they are pretty descent. Even though they were without Reggie Williams it is good to win on the road because you never know what to expect on the road since it is so tough sometimes to focus.

Really impressed with Jeremy Anderson, he has come a long way this year. Wow!

Thre is no doubt the LU fans were louder. I was disappointed most of the corp did not show. The atmosphere was not nearly as intense and therefore not as entertaining as last year

Very true. Somebody ehem gave all our girls bullet proof vests and pepper spray for last night.

But yeah it was weird to expect so many angry people to be there and show up to an empty arena

This was at the tail end of Lang's article:
Ohman took a charge early in the game, and when he got up, he took some of the Cameron Hall floor with him. A splinter from the floor lodged in his lower back, forcing to the sideline for treatment.
What the frap?! Does the Cameron Hall floor double as a rickety pier in the offseason?

I thought Manson (?) was joking when he said the officials were putting TAPE on the splinter in the floor.

Guess not

Probably the same floor that Stonewall Jackson himself played on... if not, I'm sure the rebs will have some equally logical explanation :D

I was finally sitting close enough to hear the LU cheers:

"He's a fresh-man"
"He's a walk-on"
"Ty-ler Bak-er"
"ETSU"
"Ter-ry Fal-well"

I had to explain the ETSU one to Jeff Barber who wasn't around during the Multi-Purpose center days. HMO incorrectly said that it was my ONLY dunk...Not only, just my BEST. To the LUnatics. Thanks for the love boys (and girls).

Someone give me the Anderson in HS stats so I don't have to find him. Was he a big pick-up or is he just playing out of his mind?

I've seen it mentioned in other threads, but here are the chants from last night:

"He's a freshman" - Jeremy Anderson
"He's a walk-on" - Kyle Ohman
"For the kids!" - Rell Porter
"Larry's Better" - Chavis shooting FTs
"Let's go Dolphins" - in response to "Let's go Keydets" - referring to Jim Reid leaving to go to the Dolphins
"Tyler Baker" - no explanation needed
"Mrs. Baker" - she was sitting next to us
"You need Reggie" - at the end of the game
"Just like football" - at the end of the game
"I'll coach football" - referring to them not having a football coach
Jeff Barber, Terry Falwell, Tyler Falwell, and Ritchie chants

Then there were the normal ones:

"You can't do that" - fouls
"Fundamentals" - turnover, missed layup
"I'm blind, I'm def, I wanna be a ref" - obvious

There were some good one-liners dropped as well.

Jeremy played 5 years of varsity basketball in Kentucky and is one of only 2 players to in history to play in 5 state tournaments. He was brought in to shoot and he certain can do that! He took and made his 1st and only 2 pointer of his career last night on a full court pass for a layup by TJ Bannister. Good pickup. Not a steal though.

He was one of the top scorers in Kentucky history. The kid can shoot. I thought he'd end up with about 15 for the game but he knocked down 20.

AD Barber told me he expected Jeremy would get 15 in that environment before the game (well he didn't tell me before the game but that was his thought he shared with people before the game). Jeremy had 15 at halftime!

SCAR, you really need to get that ETSU dunk footage saved on to a palm pilot, MP-3 player, high tech cell phone or portable DVD player, so you can show it to people during those chants. A picture (or video clip) is worth a thousand words.

Jeremy Anderson's high school credentials:
Prep: Graduated from Warren Central High School … second player in the history of Kentucky high school basketball to play in five state tournaments, including one as an eighth grader … the only other player to do so was Richie Farmer, who has his jersey hanging from the rafters of Rupp Arena after a stellar career playing for Rick Pitino and the Kentucky Wildcats … leaves Warren Central as the school’s all-time leader in points (1,991), field goals (698), three-point field goals (279) and games played (149) … ranked No. 15 all-time in the Kentucky State Tournament in points scored (162) … led Warren Central to the state championship in 2004 and runner up honors in 2005 … three-time all-state honoree and two-time region player of the year, including being named first-team all-state and region player of the year as a senior … McDonalds All-American nominee as a senior, when he averaged 17.0 points a game, while hitting 42.0 percent of his three point field goal attempts … shot 55.0 percent from the field, while dishing out 2.0 assists and grabbing 3.0 rebounds per game.
