Thanks Nicki for bringing your talent to Liberty. Your big hits, blocks, digs, passing and sets have truly elevated the program to a new level.
Keep winning those awards! It's fun to see you get the well deserved recognition, and it also puts the Liberty volleyball program on lists with Penn State, Washington and Stanford.
Liberty freshman right-side hitter Nicki Scripko was one of 14 players nationally to be recognized today by the Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) as a Rising Star. The award is the latest in a series of decorations which have been bestowed upon the Lady Flame rookie this year.
Go Nicki...with her, Kallie, Karyl, Chelaine and Jess Nelson all returning plus some great recruits coming in, we're set to become as dominant as Winthrop was in the Big South and have a lot of fun in the non-conference portion of the schedule.
I really see Kallie and Nicki both ranking very high on some lists at LU. And they are great people off the court too...Never is there ever a time when I see one of them anywhere on campus and they are not smiling. They make the people around them better, and they are people who make friends very easily. I kinda wish there were more people just like them around here or anywhere for that matter.

HAHA...I can see the twitching from here! I got behind a cute little VW Bug the other day...it had a liberty sticker and a big volleyball decal...i thought hmmm she's either living in the past or is currently playing, then I looked at the license plate....GymRat and the state gave it away and i realized nope, that girl isnt living in the past she's in the present
I dont know if you've ever seen that car before

That yellow VW Bug has been to a lot of gyms. It was first driven by Kallie's sister (3 years older) who was also a good volleyball player. Kate played for the Nike Volleyball Club here in Portland, and for Abilene Christian University, in Abilene, Texas. Both daughters enjoyed driving the car. We offically gave it to Kallie when she left for Virginia. Note: We gave Kate a wedding. The license plate and decals have created many conversations at stop lights. Most people want to know when and where the next LU game will be played. Or, they yell "Beat Winthrop!" If you ever pull up next to her, get her attention and tell her, "Your dad says he loves you, and SLOW DOWN!"
If it helps you sleep better at night having eyes in Lynchburg then I will tell you this, from what I could tell he had the proper grip on the steering wheel 10 & 2 and she was going well below the speed limit

10 & 2... watch your blind spot... don't tail-gate... watch your speed... use your blinker... don't talk on the phone... don't leave the dome light on and run down the battery - AGAIN... wash the car once a semester... don't look at the guy in the car next to you, unless he yells, "I have a message from your father."
what is that actresses name bl? I think...she was on a very popular show back in the day and I was in love with her either her name or the characters name was melanie or melody or something like that

Congrats to Nicki on her recent award! Speaking of withdrawals, just bought airfare for the Va Tech Tournament in March. Who is going to be there that I can talk volleyball with? I am down to my last year of V-ball so I will probably set a record for frequent flyer miles in 2008!
We're going to save our vacation time and travel money for the fall. I will look for your phone call from the gym. You and Vadim have been great to call me from tournaments. Thanks again!!!
Gymtalk, you got it, courtside calls will be conducted. I too better save some time. I will be at parents weekend and senior night this year not to mention another trip for her B-day. I may need a loan!
Gymtalk, I talked to Kallie in the dining hall a couple days ago and she said (and I think she was joking) that she is down to hitting only 1 person a week or something to that effect.
