This is also very true. When I was looking for a house, two of my requirements were a garage and a basement, and I was absolutely blown away with the lack of both in this area. So now I have neither a garage (car hold for those less-sophisticated among us) or a basement.

But there are plenty of ice-scrapers and snow shovels at the store, go out and buy a couple.

it'll blow the fuse so you dont break the spring or motor...

but at least this time it'll stay above the ice trying to scrape it away...i've done it before...it works...believe me you dont want to blow fuses

you blow a fuse when you send more power than necessary to the device. if this was an actual feature of a vehicle, people in the midwest would be dealing with blown fuses daily...which they aren't...you have an electrical problem....my bet is it will also happen when you dry run your wipers...

my mom puts a towl across the windshield when its supposed to ice. that seems to actually work well, she just takes it off and throws it in the floor mat when she goes and shes good to go. no scraping.

the real question is: how do you manage to walk AND breathe at the same time without hurting yourself?

That's completely nuts. There is no spring involved in moving the wipers and you can't blow a fuse unless you overload the circuit at the source. If I were you, I'd take the Peterbilt battery off your Miata. Alternatively, you could just go out and buy a man's car.

LOL...I've been called a NIMROD for being right!!!!!!!!!!!!

The purpose of a fuse is when there is more current then there is normally when using the component correctly...hence NOT BLOWING WIPER MOTORS or stripping the device!

when you flip the switch the wiper motor doesn't try and get more power...they have regulators for...the purpose of fuses is to protect the device from receive too much power...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nimrod_%28missile%29
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawker_Siddeley_Nimrod
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nimrod_%28ship%29

Now there, don't you feel much better? I'd chose the racecar if I were you!
Hope I've helped!

How about talking to an electrician?

That's true but you apparently still don't understand it. The purpose of a fuse is to diffuse power surges. It doesn't matter how much power the motor is drawing b/c it can't draw more than it was designed to draw. You cannot blow a fuse under normal operation -- ice or no ice -- unless there is something wrong with your wiring and/or power source.

Hey, he's rolling in a high end Acura. If his wiper motor wants more power, it'll freaking get more power. The fuse is the only voice of reason.

maybe it's my 24 inch subs in the back blowing them

I just dont agree RTF having the wipers completely frozen solid and unable to move is not normal working conditions...at least to me, and considering I've never blown them during 'normal' use.
