SID Department is in charge of it still. Internal IT at Liberty has built the site. But the diffrence is the SID Department will be able to control all content from a backend. They were not able to do that last time.
Todd and his team has done an excellant job updating the site in the past, this will only make that process easier. They will be able to change everything internally without getting the outside web company from Florida to do it.
prototype wrote:It's not Liberty's fault. Once you upload a webpage it will take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours to propagate on all the servers. In a lot of cases areas in the world will see the site first, i.e. it might come up first on the west coast and then take several more hours to see it on the West Coast.
It's actually the DNS change that takes a while to propogate. Basically, the domain name "libertyflames.com" is just a pointer that directs computers to an IP address. When a change is made to make a domain name point to a different IP address, it takes up to 48 hours for DNS servers around the Internet to pick up on the change and start directing users to the new IP address.
I'm not currently on a network where I can check to see if the DNS change has been made at LU, but I'll try to remember to look later.
The old webhost/vendor won't call us back to transfer the domain name. We're completely ready to go; just waiting on them. If they call us back today to make the transfer, it should be accessible around the Internet by the end of the weekend. If not today...could be next week before everyone can get to it.
I think this kind of service is probably why we're moving the site in house. Ya know what I'm sayin'?
I'm getting the new site now! Looks great. I am sure Todd Wetmore and Joe Padron and the rest of the Media dept will keep this thing moving in a positive direction. Great job guys!
wow, I forgot Joe left. Those guys do a great job though for real. Joe will be missed. I sat with him and Ryan and Todd sometimes during a lady Flames hoops game at press row and all sorts of fire drills seemed to be happening and they just spring into action like nothing. They make our broadcasts seamless in terms of getting what we need including our interviewee's. I hope they replace Joe with someone of his caliber. Maybe we can bring back Mike Montoro
I'm finally able to see the site here in Texas. Its not flashy, but it looks to have all primary bases covered. I'm just glad they don't have to limit their additions like they did on the old site.
I like the fact that it doesn't have a lot of flash and drop down menus. I had webpages that if I accidentally move my mouse a pixel too high there's a big menu dropping down covering what I'm trying to read.
media guides indeed and the facilities link with good pics. i always like to read about other school's facilities. as far as gametracker, i woule even take the scaled down version some of the big south schools use on their sites.
