I'm not knocking the DeMoss family in any way and I'm sorry for their loss but that building has served its purpose. I believe that if it's not going to be used as an athletic facility, it's in the way.

I too, am well aware of the history behind the naming of that facility. I am SURE the family would have no issue with David's name being attached to whatever structure is build in its place- if thats the direction the school would decide to go. Maybe not a parking garage, but a brand new fieldhouse named in his memory would be a nice idea.

They ARE opposed to it being changed into an athletic facility. If they weren't all of your ideas for an athletic building would already be done.

I rescind my earlier statement. Thats too bad. Personally, I'd want a relative honored with something that gets used frequently, but to each their own- that family has done great things for the school. God Bless them.

David was a friend of mine. I certainly can't speak for the family but I don't think he would mind. If that's what his family wants, however, they certainly have earned the right to have it remain in its current status.

the beautiful red brick is starting to be put up around the base of the ops center. dr. falwell said in church this morning that the roof should be going up within ten days.

I was by there today. I see no way they will have the building ready to occupy before the season is over.

We are a rainy week away from not making it by the end of the season. I still just don't see it FINISHED, COMPLETE, (perhaps ready for occupancy, though, just to say they are in) before the season is out. Of course, I'm no contractor.

LUBM Welcome to the Liberty Way. While most good businesses follow the credo "Under Promise and Over Deliver" LU takes a radically different approach "Over promise, under deliver, and fall back on the excuse Hey we are a ministry!" Field Turf will make it in over the summer, I would put money on that. OPS center will have people in it by the season, whether it has it Certificate of Occupancy or not. Most building projects are completed behind schedule, so no big stress

Basketball floor is being completed as we speak, and looks great.

Is it just the new logo being placed in the middle? Still says Liberty University on the outer edges?

Good news about the hoops floor!! Hope it doesn't get to damaged over the summer, but hopefully it will be a nice "show piece" when we get all the Boys Staters and other campers in here.

If I recall from what we have been told all along is that the field turf is going in during the end of June and early parts of July...

maybe just in time for the 4th of July celebration that they have there every year. i would think jerry would want to show it off in front of that crowd.

Barber told me they were going to start ripping the old turf out in May. I doubt the new stuff gets installed until June.
