have to be impressed with armanti edwards...that guy is a friggin stud. props to richmond for coming back and making it a game, but App is really the best out there. i just can't see either team s. illinois or delaware beating the mounties. the only thing that perturbed me during the game was sean mcdonough saying that app's chancellor was close to being a showboat! ridiculous. he is proud of his school!! i thought if that was LU and doc was alive, he would do the same thing!

Agreed. Those guys are so used to watching the "business as usual" atmosphere of FBS that they can't tell the different between real school pride and showboating. He's just genuinely excited for his school, in the same way that his students are. By all accounts the students love him for it, too.

Currently scoreless with 6:44 left in the first. The rain is slowing down the passing attack of both teams pretty significantly.

Scratch that. SIU just went up 3 to 0 with 5:49 left in the first.

Delaware strikes first in the second half giving them a 14 to 10 lead. There is 7:31 remaining in the third.

Delaware really blew it with that call in the 2nd quarter. They could have had the FG for the tie and went for it instead. They didn't get it. Now they're up, but I wouldn't be surprised to see that call come back to haunt them.

Joe Flacco has the potential to play on Sundays and really surprise some people. I got to watch part of teh Deleware-DSU game and the game last night with Southern Illinois and some of the plays he was making were just mind blowing. I think I counted 2 or 3 times in the DSU game where he managed to get out of a sack and then hit a pass for 10-15 yards

When I saw the score I almost did but anyway I will be pulling for App State since it is a north vs south issue here and in the past I always pull for the South. Or maybe I am tired of all of the local hype given to them and since I am not too fond of living in Delaware I usually pull for whoever is playing them especially if it is a team which LU has played in the past. But, to be fair, this has convinced me we need a playoff for FBS. If we used the same old system that the FBS uses, it would have been UNI Montana as a national title game (more than likely, right?) and no one else would have had a shot. Now, however, App State (who is the best team in the country, without a doubt) and Delly get to play for it. It's exciting, and fair.

Please excuse my ignorance, but how exactly do the playoffs in FCS work? I gather that conference champs don't recieve an automatic bid, correct? How it works in division 2 is the country is broken up into four regions. Six teams from each region make the playoffs (top two teams receive a bye week). D2 has regional rankings that determine who makes it, so a conference champ doesn't necessarily make the playoffs.

Personally I feel a conference champ should receive an automatic bid to a 16 team format, or possibly a *GASP* 24 team tournament. Just curious. Thanks.

In I-AA, there are currently 8 conferences that receive autobids (this is about to change but that's another story). Each of the champions of those conference gets into the playoffs and a selection committee fills the remaining 8 slots in the field with at-large teams. The top 4 teams seeded and the rest of the brackets are grouped geographically as best as possible, hopefully avoiding pitting conference teams against each other or forcing someone to fly clear across the country to play their 1st round game (this part never works out).
