Maybe Hansbrough.
I don't know. I can't think of any team that wouldn't want Tyler on their team. He's a great college player. Works hard. Plays smart. Doesn't cause problems.

He'll be serviceable in the NBA, never a star, but you can't say he's overrated in college.
The sixers should or could have a top 5 pick, i wouldn't want hansborough that high.
Yeah, no duh. Unless you're dealing with Larry Bird, you should stay away from American born white players.

let's be honest here, there have been more heralded black high school and foreign born players not living up to hype/potential in the nba in the past 10 years than there have been heralded white american players not living up to hype/potential.

people are just too in love with football so they overlook it
tell me about it.....people are amazing sometimes...

but i get it...

college ball = great fundamental basketball (40% white)

basketball = thug ball (18% white)

somewhere in between college ball and nba ball most of the honkeys get weeded out and it becomes thug ball.

Yes, but there have also been considerably more black high school and foreign born players playing serviceable basketball in the nba in the past 10 years than there have been white american players playing serviceable basketball.

I bet you if I really thought about it, I could think of... at least 10 African-American basketball players.

there have not been more "servicable" players to come out of HS in the past 10 years, there has been more all-stars, but not more total "servicable" players.

Getting back on topic, from Bill Simmons:
I received a shocking number of e-mails from delighted Sixers fans about Billy King's firing this week. The thing that surprised me was they waited until now -- why didn't they fire him last winter so another GM could have made the Iverson trade and started rebuilding the team? Instead, they allowed him to trade Iverson, make all the 2007 picks and signings ... and then they fired him? How stupid was that? Anyway, I loved this quote from Wednesday's Philly Inquirer article about the firing from Kyle Korver, one of the many Sixers whom King overpaid over the years: "Obviously, he did a lot for me, and I owe him a lot. So to see him go is tough for me." They should have gotten quotes from everyone King overpaid: Kenny Thomas, Aaron McKie, Eric Snow, Sam Dalembert, Steven Hunter ...

Please....I have met quite a few people from the North that have "racial issues." Don't lump all southerners in with the stereotype.

My issue with the NBA has nothing to do with race. I just find it boring.

Actually, they are having almost the same discussion regarding the NBA image on the NC State message board. Feel free to read some of the posts:
"To me some of it is the thug image, but a lot of it has to to with the it's all about me mindset, along with the style of play most teams use...

Too much one on one, I use to love to watch during the Larry Bird days, but now, not so much....IMHO"

"I could not name 10 non-ACC players in the NBA. Cannot watch it at all as I have no respect for a league that allows the players to constantly pull this prima donna bs.

I think Sprewell choking his coach was the last straw. Could not care less if the whole league folds."

"I like the NFL and they have a large percentage of black athletes. I guess I am just a bandwagon racist when it comes to the NBA.

Grow a set and put the racist card back in the deck. You like the product or you don't."

then you are not actually watching nba basketball....to say that its style of play is more boring than college ball is ludicris.

this 1 on 1 ball and thug life crap is just more "i read somewhere" crap...

I have watched the NBA. I even went to some games when Charlotte had the Hornets. I can see where people from big cities can get into it..supporting the hometown team. Other than that, it just bores the crap out of me. Maybe the season is too long.....I don't know. I just can't get into it....at all.

Also, to me, MLB is boring....(I can watch about an inning, maybe two), & the NFL is tolerable, at best.

That's my main problem with it. I'll watch parts of a game every now and then but that particular game, just really doesn't matter. I hate that. On the flip side, I don't like college football where if you lose a game, you most likely won't be able to contend, but I need every game to be important. There's other things I don't like about it either but this is the main thing for me.

you're right...i wasn't really trying to say southerners are the only one with race issues...but racism is where this mindset of "thug ball" comes from...I did not believe that for the longest time, but it just seems clear to me...

I hate when people lump a whole group of people into a stereotype and I did that very thing...sorry about that...

Thug is the perception many people have of the NBA...
...and perception is reality for many people.

Someone mentioned the NFL...yes...and the commish sees that and realizes that is NOT the image the National Football League wants to present. The NBA, on the other hand, EMBRACED IT...call it the Hip Hop culture or whatever you want. Exhibit A can be Vegas at the NBA All-star weekend...what type of "element" did that bring into town? It is going to take years to change the perception, and the NBA commish is trying (like the dress code implemented last year).

It is not being racist...it is presenting the facts. If someone has the perception I am being racist, I am not, and I am sorry if I offend. That is not the intent.
