He's gotten worse...

Did RD say he was a potential NBA player coming out of HS????? :vomit
He wasn't the only one that thought that. Russ has big time skills. Woodson used to love playing with him in pickup games and always said Russ is a pro. One of the coaches told me that Russ looks like a pro when he goes through drills. I think that too. It just hasn't carried over to the games on a consistant basis. Tough couple of minutes from him tonight. I am his biggest fan and I want him to do well but I understand coach not having confidence in him right now. J Holland looked good tonight I thought. BJ is really good. He doesn't have to score a lot of points every night. He just lets the game come to him.

oddly enough- only 1 post on the PC board and that was about how tired their guys must be from the academics.

I was very polite and respectful, though- unlike you young hooligans

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE PC COACH

-Suit jacket was tight around his medsection, even when unbuttoned
-Arms of the suit got halfway down his forearms
-Clip on tie
-Swearing Like a sailor
-Continous yelling
-Red face
-Punching a Clipboard
-Had a lisp, so I was never sure if the play was clled 14Z or 14C

I cant speak on the whole pro thing...I remember him saying he was a project...I think that was in the press release or something like that

The actual song went:

Presby has a little Lamb
Little Lamb
Little Lamb
Presby has a little lamb
Who couldn't make a shot

Like I said in other places, we make things up as we go along every night, but wanted people to know the basics. It worked about as well as FEMA in New Orleans. On to plan D, E, and F.

Some of the cheers we came up with throughout the game, along with memorable quotes:

Mini Miller clap clap clapclapclap
Boooooger Booooger - one of their players' nickname was Booger
De-por-ta-tion clap clap clapclapclap - for their European player
The air-ball one of course
Their coach was complaining about a back court call that wasn't made and TBGBG goes, "Hey Joe Gibbs, learn the rules before you whine about em."

A song we thought about singing, and a couple of us did but we didn't do it big, was:

Jesus loves predestined children
All the children that he picked
You and you and you and you
Not you or you but you and you
Jesus loves the children that He picked

There were a few others, but I'm too tired to remember.

On another note, to show how awesome Coach McKay is, he bought pizza for our entire group tonight before the game. It was his way of thanking us. He came up and talked to us for a second and told us thanks. Before the game, after our Ritchie chant, we started a "Thanks for piz-za" chant and he started laughing.

Haven't checked the PC board, but they'll probably say they played us tight.

Great to see coach getting giving y'all some love...with a little help from him and more wins like last night you will have the furnace back to where it belongs...the most feared home court in the Big South.

The :oldhag may remember Russ' freshman year: he played some in the post as a back-up, but what stood out to me was the jumpshot he had from 10-12 feet out. That shot was money when he would square up and face the basket, but somehow he has lost that shot for 3 years and can't seem to find it.

thought the game seemed a bit sluggish at times, it is still a nice win. i really think the guys have bought into mckay's system, and the program is on the right path. it looks like the attendance numbers were up too!

Smoothy, the official attendace was listed at 2646, which means they would have easily fit inside Schilling (or the Liberty Gym, as Medic likes to call it). As I was leaving Quiz Bowl practice, I noticed that the C-lab was packed--mostly with people checking facebook and myspace. Come on, students, unhook yourself from the computers for a couple of hours and come out to a basketball game! Or bring your laptop with you to check your favorite web pages at halftime or during timeouts.

You're right, Smoothy--the fans were definitely louder. I coud even hear Super's cheers from the nosebleed section on the Baptist side above the padded seats.

Funny thing about the attendance...

Looking up at the student side, there were a lot of people there. However, when I looked at it on TV later, it looked as empty as ever. This was because of the sections being roped off to the left and right of the middle student section. Most of the camera time is spent with somewhat tight shots at one end of the floor or the other, and with those rows roped off behind the benches, it just looked empty. The only time you could see SJ and his crew in the middle was when the camera panned to the other end of the court or was zoomed wide.

If I remember correctly, he had a very promising first game during his freshman year. I think he came off the bench and went something like 5 for 5 with 10pts in only 10 mins. If I'm not mistaken, we opened up at home against New Hampshire that year. So, the homeschooler looked pretty darn good in his first action against an average D-1 opponent.

Unfortunately, it's all been downhill since then.

Smoothy, I used to be in the front corner, next to the padded seats, but that section is now reserved for athletics staff (though they seldom sit in that section), so now my season tickets are above the padded seats, since faculty & staff only get a discount on the blue seats, not the padded ones.

Good win. I'm glad to see Justin get 17 minutes, no points, but had 3 assists and 0 turnovers. Would be great for him to be able to work himself into the rotation. We desperately need it. If he could give us 15 minutes at the point with production like that, that would be huge for TeeJay.

I noticed in the press release, that this was the first time in a decade that a team shot 10 or more three pointers in a game without making one. That speaks to the defensive effort these guys are putting in which is great to see.

again- I didn't see the game- but was looking at the stats and struck by what a great defensive job the guys did.

Nice effort by all- esp Ritchie and the staff

I thought it was great to hear the post game interview. Ritchie said they gave up the inside game to stop the perimeter game. He said he had tried to stop bothe with Air Force one time and it just doesn't work. So he tries to shut down the area where the team is most prolific. I'd say it worked here when you take a team who's made a ton of 3pters and shut them out. The guys did great.

it does not matter about the rpi right now. this team is finidng itself and playing their roles and just buying into RMK's system. so any win right now is a good one.

Yeah, RPI is pretty worthless this time of year. And only semihelpful in February. But you are correct in that PC is not a good win. But we didn't lose, which is what's most important in these types of games.
