I personally HATE winter. It is dreary, cold, and boring. I know Lynchburg and this board are filled with folks from all over, and I was curious how many agree with me. So vote and spout here.

If it's not snowing, I'd rather it be 60-75 degrees.

I'm the sole vote for loving it right now.

There's not much I don't like. I like cold. I like dreary. I like snow. It's hardly boring here when it snows, IMHO. The craziness that ensues from even the slightest bit of snow is very entertaining to me. I also like heavy coats, trying to keep warm, warm drinks, Christmas, New Year's, etc.

Pro Winter.

So if it were 26 today with a 10 mph wind chill of 12, you 2 would be happy?

You guys obviously never had to wait for the school bus every morning in those conditions growing up. It is terrible. My face would be numb by the time that thing showed up.

You guys should love the next few days:
Greater Lynchburg
8am Tuesday, December 4, 2007

Tuesday: Intervals of sun and clouds. Breezy and chilly. High 45. Winds WNW 5-15 mph.

Tuesday night: Clear early, then thickening clouds after midnight. Low 28.

Wednesday: Cloudy. Occasional light snow in the morning, leaving a small coating in some locations. High 39. Greatest snow threat between 7am and 2pm. Snow may briefly change to light rain before ending. Winds light and variable.
· Northern locations (Lexington, Lovingston, Covington) have a better chance to see accumulating snow, with a coating to 2 inches possible by Wednesday afternoon. The higher amounts will be confined to the higher elevations.
· Southside Virginia (Martinsville, Danville, Brookneal, South Boston) will likely miss all of the precipitation.

Thursday: Sunny. High 44.

Friday: A mix of sun and clouds. High 47.

Saturday and Sunday: Partly sunny. Highs both days in the 50s.

Dry Monday and Tuesday (12/10-11), then some rain possible Wednesday and Thursday (12/12-13). Dry the following weekend (12/14-16). Highs in the 50s to low 60s Monday and Tuesday, 50s through the weekend.

Average High/Low: 52/30

the snow differential between Lynchburg and really anywhere else in VA is truely amazing. I don't understand why we don't ever get any precipitation in the winter. It always goes to the NorthEast of us.

really? Than you guys must not get any. Because for the last few years we've seen maybe 2 inches per year max.

Is that true knuckle? I always thought that might be why. The Appies go in that direction.

Yup. The mountains break a lot of the storms up. That's why SW VA gets a ton but south and central VA don't get much.

The Weather dudes here say it is the fronts breaking up over the mountain range.
