Well with all these announcer types on here and with all this BCS vs a playoff talk I thought Id bring this back from last year.

Selection criteria are simple:

6 BCS conference champions
10 at large
No one conference receives more than 3 bids (CAA rule)
At least 6 wins on the year

Here are the conference champions:

ACC: Virginia Tech
Big 10: Ohio State
Big 12: Oklahoma
Big East: West Virginia
Pac-10: USC
SEC: LSU

I'll post the 10 at larges after the final BCS standings and matchups are announced.

Just so you know ahead of time I am using these criteria in selecting the 10 at large (along with the "CAA rule"):

Strength of schedule
Margin of victory/defeat
opponent strength of schedule
BCS standings
overall strength of conference

1. Strength of schedule- very simply, who did they play?
2. Margin of victory/defeat- How much did they win by in those games? (or lose by)
3. Opponent Strength of Schedule- Who did the teams that each school played play themselves?
4. BCS Standings- Where did your team finish in the BCS (if they were ranked at all)?
5. Overall Strength of Conference- How good, top to bottom, is the conference the team played in?

Great idea BJ..... can I do anything to convince you FIU deserves to be in there?

Florida International Resume
Big Wins:
North Texas, first win in two years

Big Losses(Meaning by 60 or more points):
0, although the barely lost to Penn State 59-0, and a last minute scoring drive put Kansas up 55-3.
Also, this year they did not get in a fight with "The U"

Obviously FIU should be in

As promised here are the 10 at large bids into the 2007 Race for the Heisman Bowl:

ACC
Boston College Runner up to VA Tech (10-3)

Big 10
Illinois- Runner up to Ohio State (9-3)

Big 12
Missouri- Runner up to Oklahoma (11-2)
Kansas- 2nd place Big 12 North (11-1)

Big East
No at larges awarded

Pac-10
Arizona State- Runner up to USC (10-2)
Oregon State- 3rd place (8-4)

SEC
Georgia- SEC East runner-up (10-2)
Tennessee- SEC East Champion (9-4)

Non-BCS
Hawaii- Champions Western Athletic Conference (12-0)
and finally...and Im gonna catch flak for this one...

Central Florida- Conference USA Champions (10-3)

These are the at larges I have picked based on the listed criteria

As it breaks down:

ACC-2 (Virginia Tech, Boston College)

Big 10- 2 (Ohio State, Illinois)

Big 12- 3 (Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas)

Big East- 1 (West Virginia)

Conference USA- 1 (Central Florida)

Pac-10- 3 (USC, Arizona State, Oregon State)

SEC- 3 (LSU, Georgia, Tennessee)

WAC- 1 (Hawaii)

Let the snub talk begin!

they lost 3 heartbreakers to bowl teams, and beat 5 bowl eligible teams, including Auburn and WVU.

Not too shabby.

are they all 8-3 and beat West Virigina and Auburn?

Actually, find me teams, not on BJ's list, who beat 5 bowl eligable teams.

Hey there are three conferences that got 3 bids under my system if you look at the breakdown. If you intended that to be a joke I didn't find it very funny.

Well hey Id put Florida in but I did add the "CAA rule" so that one conference doesn't get the majority of the bids. I mean not everybody is gonna be happy with who gets in and who doesn't (much like with who gets in the NCAA basketball tournament and who doesn't...who gets in the 1-AA/FCS playoffs or not...who gets in the BCS or not...etc). Im not saying its a perfect system

Ok, give me some time.
After some thorough research I have found the following info:

There are 4 teams (other than USF) with 5 wins over bowl-eligible teams:

Florida who has 7!
Clemson who has 6.
Oregon with 5 and have beaten USC and Ariz St.
Michigan with 5.

I would take all of those teams ahead of USF. All 4 of them played in toughet conferences, except for maybe Michigan.
