HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

anyway theres really not a whole lot we can do more than we are doing now(with regard to the SFC deal) but Ill rehash ideas that I think have already been tried:
1) start a rival club - wont work
2) Infultrate the SFC - Obviously not Jon though, hed use it to make friends, but without him i dont think itd pan out
3) Hope it all pans out and students start to give a rip about basketball

In terms of marketing, CONVO is a gold mine we just need a big push for it

But honestly, this is how I see it. Not as much hype to basketball as there was for 2006 football means it will take longer, unless we win the BS within 2 years, which wont happen. Either way were in for a rough year atmosphere wise

Even though it WAS a one time thing, it just seemed silly that it even happened in the first place. I mean people should be able to spend their time enjoying the game. Anyway, the major crux of my post that included that reference was the fact that things like this are something that leadership in the dorms to make the games a brother/sister activity. I know on my hall over the years that has happened. I also think that if we can put together a good string of wins, that is gonna bring the students out. Nothing helps attendance like winning

One thing you need to do is clear the library...I had to be up there for a meeting last night and it was PACKED...at least the upstairs ILRC part was. It looked like a happy hour of socializing up there. (Hypocrite alert coming). All I could think about was..."Why the heck are you guys not at the basketball game."

The ONE THING that will bring the students out is a winning program. When LU is winning, the people show up. Had Rocco gone 3-8 and 5-6...does anyone think the football attendance would be what is was the past two years? Winning some games in this stretch of home games will go a long ways towards boosting student interest. Last night was a good start.

Question: Is that big empty roped off section behind the team's bench for SFC? If so, that needs to be disbanded immediately.

No. That's for will-call (parents, etc). I don't know why they moved it behind the bench.

how about if we give them 2 rows since it was about 5 people spread out into 6 or 7 rows.

Bottom line is, and you may not like to hear it, "If we start winning people will come."

Look what happened with Volleyball this year. Basektball is way more exciting. If the B-ball team starts winning, people will start coming. I know its frustrating, but don't worry about.

I'm with Fumble--let's close the library and cancel night classes during all basketball games!

Seriously, though, the last thing I do before I go to a game is to watch DC on WSET to see if he mentions our game. So far, 2 home games and still NO mention by DC of Liberty's home games. Come on, DC, show LU some love on game nights!

From Last night's 11pm: Lead Sports story:
" The 2-and-4 Liberty Flames returned home to Lynchburg for the first of a 3-game homestand tonight.
LU welcomed in the Longwood Lancers. Midway through the first half...Flames with the lead when Longwood's Billy Robinson Junior drops in the three. LU still up 10. Now with the ball...Alex McLean drives to the bucket for the deuce, he had 33 points. Flames up 11.
Still first half...Kyle Ohman passes it off to B.J. Jenkins...top of the key three - count it. 34-20 LU leads.
Then off the steal, Rell Porter gives it off to Ohman and Ohman connects from 3-point land.
LU was up 19 at the half and the Flames go on to win big 91-67. "

What were you watching?

By 11:00 I'm in bed, Knuckle. I want DC to also show some love BEFORE the game so it will encourage the townspeople to come out for some DI basketball after dinner.

So, let me get this straight, you want DC to give a free commercial out during the news instead of reporting on the sports news of the day?
LU pays us to run adds for the games you know!

Back in the day, DC used to do live feeds from the Vines and interview the coach before the game. Am I remembering this correctly? I can't recall which coach it was.

We did and still will for BIG games. Not Longwood in Dec.

How hard is it to say this:

"Local games tonight include _______________."

It'd take ten seconds at most.

Winning cures all evil. For 2 years from 2002-2004 the Vines was loud and a great place to watch a game. Had great atmosphere. What else was going on at that time? We were winning.

Winning isn't the only thing to bring kids out. We packed Williams in the rain the first game after a 1-10 season. We went 6-5 and people still showed up in mass. An atmosphere brings kids out.

but winning keeps them coming....if we started losing again this year the attendance would've gone down as the season went....

but we need to develop a great atmosphere...but its really a combination of both...developing a good atmosphere for basketball is needed...you are 100% right...but if we don't start winning it won't last....

I have confidence in the athletic dept. and that they will really start focusing on basketball......this Saturday should be a great way to kick off promotion...Saturday games are always easier to sell to the students....

Mistake, he should have mentioned that we were playing. Even the Wash DC Anchors do that w/ the locals.

true...but its a pointless battle...no matter how much we say its not going until people give a crap about LU athletics...I know with more exposure on the news could help that....but whatever...I can't sit through any of the local news broadcasts around here long enough to care that much....

Idea, might not help that much, but I like it anyways:

Talk with Universal, or someone else, and get us some T-Shirts.

For all of us, who stand down in front, that say "LUnatics" or something of that sort.

It wouldn't really be a rival group, it would just be a bunch of people doing something to support their team in a group-like fashion :P

I am more than willing to chip in for this, anyone else?
