You are absolutely right...BROCK playing with confidence this 2nd half of the season is the difference.

Yes, Brock should be praised for turning his season around and thus turning the Flames around. He was never really bad but now he is becoming a true leader and a performer. Also getting ZT a few more touches a game certainly hasn't hurt either. The Defense got tougher too because of not being on the field with their backs to the wall so much...Great season! If this is it then so be it.

Without a doubt Brock had a great 2nd half of the season. That should provide a great confidence boost and give him great motivation for a good start the season next year.

Wow, hate to think we're already at the place of talking about next year.

That has to be one of the most dominating performances Ive ever seen by any team in the conference (even more dominating that CCU last year or in 04). We only allowed more than 30 points one time (VMI and that was mostly against second teamers), Scored 50 or more points twice (CSU and VMI), we outgained our opponents 946-631 on the ground (most of it from CCU and VMI who are very run heavy teams), outgained our opponents 1053-630 through the air, allowed 1 100+ yard rushing effort over 4 games (Howard Abegesah-VMI) AND led the entirety of ALL 4 conference games. In fact, LU trailed only one time over the last 5 games and that was in the first quarter to Charleston Southern (7-0 and 7-3)

On the FOC ticket office when the guys got back:

The worst part of this being over break is I had no help to pull off what I thought would be an awesome tribute to Coach Rocco tonight. At Wake Forest, whenever they won something big, they would toilet paper the quad and it looks amazing (I've posted pictures here before). I was going to toilet paper his front yard with a big sign that said Thank You Coach tonight but had no help so I couldn't do it.

How happy do you think Jerry is up there right now??

They carried Coach off the field on their shoulders tonight. I can only imagine Jerry would've been on a few guys' shoulders as well. May have been a little heavier, but they would've tried.

OK, I'm here. You knew I was coming out for this -- if for no other reason than to screw with Knuckle's signature.

I have no words to describe this moment. For those of us who have been around during "the dark years", this is an unbelievable moment and I don't want to sully it by trying to describe it.

The only thing I can say is "thank you". Thank you to all the fans who've turned out and filled our stadium this year, even or especially on the Baptist side. Those are the hardest seats to fill and those of you there on that side are there because LU football means something special to you and that can't be ignored. Thank you to those of you on the student side b/c you create an environment that is unmatched anywhere else in this conference and in few other places around I-AA. My favorite chant is hearing our students with the "you weren't ready" chant at the end of games b/c it's painfully obvious that nobody else is ready for the level our team plays at and the level at which our fans support us. That's been the case at home all year long.
Tonight, it was true at Gardner-Webb. We went into their house and took it over in every respect. Our team was head-and-shoulders better and our crowd was so much louder and into the game than theirs' was. Thanks to SJ, Smoothie and the rest of you flag-wavin', chain-movin' (huh!) freaks who turned that place into Williams Stadium South.

Whatever happens tomorrow is out of our hands now. It's easy to make a case for why we should be in and easy to make a case why we shouldn't. However, what can't be denied is that this program turned a corner somewhere on the bus ride home from Elon and there's no going back. Even if we don't get the chance to show it this year, this program is moving forward and, just so you know, y'all ain't seen nothin' yet.

As for Godsil, he's going to be fine. He's one of the toughest mothers I've ever seen; in fact, it usually takes combat duty in Korea to make guys that tough.

I would also be remiss if I didn't give a special "thank you" to flamesfilmguy who proved to be somewhat useful during the last 4 months. Good job, Dave. Just no more roof dancing.

Carry on.

great post LIB

you know this team has turned the corner when there's nearly 700 freaks on here posting and arguing at 2 AM over LIBERTY football (among other things) and planning tailgates. UNHEARD OF BACK IN MY DAY.

I'm proud to drive 400 miles each way a couple times a year, win or lose- and wish I could do it more.

With the good Lord's blessing I'll be renewing my Flames Club membership again next year and scheduling trips down.

Also- agree wholeheartedly that Godsil is a freakin' stud. Hoping and praying for the best for him.

always nice to have you here my friend.

Libertine appearances are always a pleasure and we miss his presence here.

Did anyone mention that we won some sort of football championship this weekend?

Two things that would have made the victory even better...capturing it at home and getting 6 TD's to maximize the discount on Tuesday.

Congrats to all those who have worked so hard to bring this championship to LU. Hopefully we will experience this even more in the future.

Another interesting point from yesterday...

Going into that game our last 3 opponents had scores that not only ended in 4 but were mathematically connected (Presbyterian-14, Coastal Carolina-24, VMI-34) If that numerical pattern had held, G-W would have scored 44 points (course the way LU was playing even if they had scored 44 we would have scored something like 80 points)
